Aside from the very friendly staff, the overall stay was a huge disappointment. We were mislead by the reviews on TripAdvisor. Not clean! Dusty room, dirty beds (mattress/pillow which made us sneeze and cough), moldy shower curtain, etc. The bathrooms are abysmal. Expecting a small bathroom, this was smaller than all expectations. It was a closet, the water was rusty at first, the floor was disgusting - you simply didn't feel "clean" after showering.
We were thankful to have full pajama sets between us and the beds because they were so uncomfortably dirty and felt like they were bug infested even though they changed the sheets every few days.
We asked to be switched to another room and it was equally as bad, so we stayed in the room we had.
After staying in a different hotel nearly every day of a 15 day European journey (Germany, Belgium, Holland), this was the worst in terms of size and cleanliness.
The good points are that it was an OK location, the staff was extremely friendly, the rooms had safes and refrigerators. Truthfully, the city is so walkable that the location does not matter much - not to mention the excellent public transportation. (it was convenient to the train station for us)
Being October, the weather was nice out so we could open the windows. If you sleep lightly, this would be a problem because of all the trams that go by - so ask for an interior room.
The steps weren't a problem as the staff carried the luggage up and down for us.
Breakfast was simple, but did the job. Breads, cheese, coffee/tea.
We would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
