This is a typical DUTCH hotel that was absolutely fantastic to stay in for the real Dutch experience. We were a group of 16 adults (mostly couples) staying in Hotel Nadia for the weekend to celebrate a 40th birhday. The staff went over and beyond their duty to make sure we had the best stay possible. The breakfast, as stated, is continental but boy do they make a fine croissant-we fought every moring amongst ourselves for first pickings but the hotel always provided an endless supply.

Yes the hotel has steep stairs but show me an authentic Dutch hotel that does not. Do as we did and enjoy the quirkiness of this hotel. You will NOT be disappointed.

The location is also fantastic; it's only a 3 minute walk from Dam Square and that's after sampling the local delicacies!!

Hotel Nadia is a lovely hotel in an excellent location. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, the room very small but was clean and had everything we needed. Would highly recommend Hotel Nadia and would definately stay again if visiting Amsterdam in the future.

This was my second visit (my husband's first) to Amsterdam and my second stay at The Nadia. We booked directly from the Hotel's website - very easy process. They immediately replied with a Welcome Back Home when learning I had stayed before. I told them it was our eighth anniversary and was delighted to find a beautiful bouquet of flowers waiting for us with a lovely note from the management. As I have recently had a knee replacement, the Hotel was kind enough to book our room on the 'first' floor off the landing up the stairs. It was overlooking the canal and we were also located right across from the Westerkerk (West Church). Completed in 1631, this church was designed by Hendrick de Keyser and boasts the city's tallest tower. The church serves as a city symbol and is where Rembrandt was buried in 1669. Also right around the corner is the Anne Frank House.
The Hotel Nadia is in a great location, half a block away from the tram stop. Great restaurants close by. Small (typically European) but exceptionally clean room and ensuite bath. Wonderfully friendly staff and management. We would definitely stay there again!

Aside from the very friendly staff, the overall stay was a huge disappointment. We were mislead by the reviews on TripAdvisor. Not clean! Dusty room, dirty beds (mattress/pillow which made us sneeze and cough), moldy shower curtain, etc. The bathrooms are abysmal. Expecting a small bathroom, this was smaller than all expectations. It was a closet, the water was rusty at first, the floor was disgusting - you simply didn't feel "clean" after showering.

We were thankful to have full pajama sets between us and the beds because they were so uncomfortably dirty and felt like they were bug infested even though they changed the sheets every few days.

We asked to be switched to another room and it was equally as bad, so we stayed in the room we had.

After staying in a different hotel nearly every day of a 15 day European journey (Germany, Belgium, Holland), this was the worst in terms of size and cleanliness.

The good points are that it was an OK location, the staff was extremely friendly, the rooms had safes and refrigerators. Truthfully, the city is so walkable that the location does not matter much - not to mention the excellent public transportation. (it was convenient to the train station for us)

Being October, the weather was nice out so we could open the windows. If you sleep lightly, this would be a problem because of all the trams that go by - so ask for an interior room.

The steps weren't a problem as the staff carried the luggage up and down for us.

Breakfast was simple, but did the job. Breads, cheese, coffee/tea.

We would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

This is a great place to stay. The rooms and bathrooms are very small, but it's Amsterdam. The hotel is clean, safe and has excellent location. The staff at this hotel exceeded my expectations. Everyone is friendly and extremely helpful. You should definitely take advantage of the manager, he knows the city really well. He's very helpful and really seems to enjoy giving suggestions (and directions). He mapped out all of our outings and gave us some great restaurant recommendations. This isn't the fanciest hotel, but I'd stay there again. If you're a light sleeper you may want to request a room away from the street, it's pretty noisy by the tram line. Great tourist hotel.
