Lots of steep stairs are inevitable in the older canalside buildings in Amsterdam, and this is the main drawback of this hotel. Room slightly cramped, but a wonderful canal view - and a LARGE double bed is not always found in Europe (it was more like UK King or US Queen size). Having a refrigerator in the room was also very useful. We had a problem at the end of the stay when the shuttle bus to the airport (booked for us by the hotel) failed to appear - apparently the booking was lost by the shuttle company. Hotel immediately accepted responsibility and ordered us a taxi to the airport (paid for by hotel). Generally an outstanding experience, with easy transport links and a five minute walk to Dam Square. Would definitely stay here again.
