“The highlight of our trip in 2013!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 days ago NEW

This review is long overdue. My husband and I celebrated a special anniversary in Amsterdam in March, 2013. After a splendid week in Paris we flew to Amsterdam and spent the last three nights of our trip at De L'Europe Amsterdam. American Express had recommended it, and it was the perfect hotel for us. The hotel was both classic (on the outside) and contemporary (on the inside). The staff was welcoming and helpful; our suite was exquisite and surprising (i.e., wall-size reproductions by masters, an iPad; a bath we got lost in, gorgeous views); the location was within walking distance of every site on our itinerary. We celebrated our anniversary at the Bord'eau Restaurant, and it was a memorable evening.

We will be returning to Amsterdam is 2015 to visit the Van Gogh Museum and the Rijksmuseum (both were still under reconstruction is 2013), and we hope to return to De L'Europe.

Room Tip: The hotel is set on the point of a triangle. Given the historic neighborhood, I can't imagine an...

We enjoyed our stay immensely. Our room was upgraded to a small suite which was very well appointed. Breakfast was delicious with lovely views along the canal. We found all the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The location is great and we would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: If you want a room with a view of the canal you will have to specifically request this, we didn'...

This hotel is simply beautiful with it's old classic European style. Stunningly beautiful architecture inside and out, the rooms are large and lavishly appointed. Centrally located in Amsterdam, it is conveniently located to all of the major museums and attractions. There is a wonderful bar just off the lobby and the restaurant offers superb cuisine.

Room Tip: Grab a suite with a balcony!

My stay last weekend at the De L'Europe was fantastic, it is a stunning hotel with wonderful staff.
The hotel is extremely clean from top to bottom, the room was spacious and well appointed with all mod cons, IPod dock, IPad, Bose sounds system, luxury toiletries with beautiful view. Truly deserving of its five star and LHW accolade. I booked a Superior room when we arrived we were given the opportunity of looking at the room before making a decision and in the end opted to upgrade to a Junior Suite for an additional fee which was well worth it. Glorious suite with very spacious balcony. The swimming and Spa area is very relaxing and calming.
The staff cannot be faulted, the welcome and warmth cannot be mistaken. Alice at reception is very personable, polite, friendly with outstanding customer service, . All of the staff were outstanding, friendly and welcoming, Jordan and Mohammed the concierges, were very attentive and anticipated what was needed even before I realised I needed it. The staff in the Brasserie were friendly and attentive both at breakfast and dinner. I had the most sublime Pina Colada at Freddy's. It is within minutes of Rembrandtplein with the flower market opposite.

I felt more like a family member than a guest and I cannot wait to go back. Words alone cannot capture the essence and atmosphere of this magnificent hotel and its staff, a stay there is not to be miss. Only regret was the stay was too short.

Room Tip: Junior Suite 128, is spacious, awash with natural sunlight, large balcony with glorious view over th...

I have stayed two days in this hotel. Location is great. The restaurants and bar is really very good. Try the cocktails in Freddie's. The reception was very efficient. They could not help me for a two hour late checkout, but not because they did not try. They have been booked fully. I will definitely stay in this hotel in my next trip. The building itself has a classical architecture and simply very beautiful.

This hotel is indeed a grand old dame, wonderful position but weary and flustered. We had a great view and generally everyone was friendly and somewhat helpful. There were just too many missteps for the price. Over crowded and in attentive breakfast and cocktail service, spotty concierge service. One evening the hotel made reservations but forgot to tell us that the restaurant could not take us, despite the reservation confirmation note...quite a screw on a busy Saturday night. Also had a nasty habit of providing a 9 am wake up call from insistent chamber maids. They did book a nice boat cruise though and their steam and sauna was great.
We had debated staying here, read that what it lacks in modern features it makes up for in service-
not really.
