I had the pleausre of staying at the hotel for 3 nights with my son on our way back from the UK. We had the most pleasurable stay, the Junior suite was amazing, the location of the hotel is the best, and the staff were totally amazing. I would highly recommend this hotel for business or holiday.

Room Tip: Junior suites for the family are really comfortable with the pull out sleeper couch for the kids

My partner and I pre-booked and paid for a deluxe room and had notified the hotel we would be arriving late. When we came to check in, they had sold our room to someone else and downgraded us to what was little more than a well decorated cupboard - what they called a standard room. And they made it worse by telling us that if we had arrived 5 minutes later, they would be booking us out to another hotel.

The following day, the disaster was turned into a triumph for the hotel thanks to the outstanding actions of Titta Romppainen from Guest Relations. She accepted without question that the hotel had failed us badly, took complete ownership of the issue and upgraded us to a suite for the second night, with a stunning view across the canal and over Muntplein.

The hotel has been refurbished since our last stay some years ago, is very centrally located and with luxurious marble bathrooms, an iPad in every room (even the cupboard sized one) and extremely comfortable beds with high quality cotton sheets, it is definitely recommended.....just don't turn up late (or if you do, speak to Titta)! If it hadn't been for the way we were treated on the first night, I would happily give the hotel five out of five on all counts.

Dear guest,

Many thanks for your kind words about our colleague Ms Titta Romppainen. I am delighted that she has been able to turn your stay into such a delightful one.

Please accept my sincere apologies for the confusion and miscummunication upon arrival. This is obviously not an example of the warm and attentive service we like to pride ourselves with. Appropiate action/ training has taken place to ensure situations like this are avoided in the future.

We sincere hope that we have the pleasure to welcome you back again very soon!

Warm regards,

Jeroen Bronsveld

This is simply one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. It is in a perfect and beautiful location on the Amstel. The staff are extremely helpful and courteous and the Bord 'Eau is amazingly good and certainly deserves its Michelin star. For more informal dining the Hoofstad Brasserie is a delightful riverside place for lunch. The rooms are beautifully decorated and the beds are very comfortable. The bathroom was a marble masterpiece. The spa and pool were closed for refurbishment but they looked amazing. Simply the best.

The hotel is conveniently located in a historic building in the center of Amsterdam right by the canal.
9 streets quarter and flower market are next to it, the Damm area is also close to the hotel.
It's LHW at 100%.
Classy, just renovated with luxurious lobby, helpful and friendly staff...
The rooms are with different configurations, as this is historic building.
Decorated in different styles. There are more classic in old part, there are more modern style rooms in the new part of the building.
The simplest choose not worth it, they are a little bit small. But for Europe - is the norm.
We stayed in a junior suite. Spacious and bright room is very nicely furnished with antique furniture, huge reproductions of famous paintings on the walls.
Comfortable bed, luxury marble bathroom with tub and shower, it's a pity but no bidet, but everything else has very high quality, especially exclusive cosmetics and accessories.
Restaurant for breakfast is very good, breakfast buffet, a true American, not a semi-continental bfst, like in both LHW.
There is a restaurant with one Michelin star with a huge wine bar, but we did not visit it. (
We had booked a trip on the canal by boat through the concierge.
(while you wait - you can enjoy complimentary cakes at the reception desk ;-)
The hotel has its own pier near the restaurant's terrace for a canal cruise boats. Very convenient and very inexpensive tour, something around 30 euros for one and a half tour with hot drinks and snacks.
Only when we took the ship, and sailed through the channel we realized how lucky we are compared to others. Great service and atmosphere unlike others - who where sited like in the bus with a bunches of students and pensioners))).
During our stay SPA was undergoing repairs, it's a pity of course.
But now we have to come here again to try Leading SPA after all,
SPA it's our passion ) .....
In the remainder it's a wonderful hotel with a high level of service and the prices quite reasonable in comparison to other hotels of LHW chain.

My partner took me here for my birthday in August 2013.

The room was spacious, clean and had everything you could possibly need. They even provided an ipad!

My partner had booked and paid for a junior suite and was a little frustrated when we checked in to be told that we have recieved a complimentary upgrade to a junior suite...err no it was booked and paid for!

The staff are lovely and polite.

We had issues every night of our stay as the turn down service took away our dirty cups each night and didn't replace them. We also had a bit of a disappointment with the breakfast that was servce in our room.

That said the hotel is great, centrally located. its very clean and the staff are ever so polite and helpful.

My friend and I came to Amsterdam after two sweltering weeks in Italy, and were ecstatic to have booked this hotel. We got an amazing deal on one of the websites and were happy to see it was in the best location, right on a canal and ten minutes away from the centre. We took a cab from the airport which was lovely but an ambitious person could do the train to the station and then take a tram to the hotel. We found our room to be cool and gorgeous, although the curtains opened to the interior of the hotel and people walking by! Not a problem as we basically hibernated in the room with the amenities of modern living ( Italy is wonderful but we do miss our particular things) ...and the beds! Awesome beds and bedding, amazing shower and bathtub with marble, robes, goodies, coffee maker...I had to drag my friend out we were so comfortable! We tried the outdoor part of the hotel restaurant- on the canal- and it was beautiful. The meal was good but pricier than we were used to from Italy...typical for many other places though. The Rijksmuseum was open and it was only a 15 minute walk from the hotel. We wanted to take the bicycles they had at the hotel but were afraid of ending up in a Dutch hospital! Those cyclists are crazy!
I would very definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again. It is one of the Leading Hotels chain and it shows.

This place is as perfect as it gets. From the second the doorman carried our 6 (50lb) bags into the lobby with a smile i realized we were going to have a great trip. We were only there for 2 nights following our 12 day cruise and our room was spacious and state of the art. The bathroom was exceptional with heated floors and separate stereo and TV built-in. I believe you spend more time in the bathroom on vacation then anywhere else and the decor in the bathroom made you want to just sit there and watch TV. This didn't help with my wife because it took her much longer to get ready since she didn't want to leave. We were with 15 family members and ended up having to wait in the bar for everyone to gather. In the bar (i can't remember the name-i think it was Franks or something like that) we had the best Bloody Mary i had ever had prepared by and extremely social and engaging bartender (Girt-hopefully i spelled his name right). He was very knowledgable and gave us excellent advice on everything we wished to see while in Amsterdam. We walked everywhere and realized later that we actually almost walked around the entire city. We didn't have a river view but my sister did and it was beautiful to sit and watch the boats go by. Obviously i would recommend this hotel to anyone and next time we go to Amsterdam we wouldn't even think twice to look elsewhere.. De L'Europe is the place to go..
i forgot to mention the linens on the bed were incredible. it was so nice to get into bed after a long day.

Room Tip: Get a room facing the river if you can. i love watching the boats go by.
