“Not a fan”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2014

I must say that I wasn't a fan of this Hotel. The building itself is like a rabbit warren with narrow hallways that seem to lead in all different directions. Having spent some time in Europe I had a bit of luggage with me so even though I used the lift to get to my room I still had to negotiate a number of stairs. The stairs between each floor are quite steep as well. If you are elderly or have a disability this is probably not the hotel for you. The room I had was quite small and the bathroom hadn't been cleaned properly when I arrived. I found the staff efficient but not overly friendly. Breakfast was basic but okay. Although WiFi is available you can only get it in the lobby so it was quite common to see a crowded lobby with everyone on their phones and IPads. The positive for this Hotel is definitely the location. It is close to everything you would want to see and do in Amsterdam. If I have the opportunity to stay in Amsterdam again I probably wouldn't pick this hotel to stay at.

Stayed for two nights in this small but tidy hotel. The location is ideal being five minutes walk from Central Station and two minutes from the infamous Red Light District and the numerous bars and cafes in the vicinity.
The receptionist was friendly and helpful and the rooms we were given , whilst small, were perfectly adequate with a decent shower. After all in Amsterdam it is only a bed for the night with so much to do and see !
One minor gripe . I thought we had breakfast included so went to the restaurant area the first morning and started putting food on a plate to be told we hadn't . We were charged ten euros each for what is a pretty basic breakfast and not worth the money so eat out if you stay here.
We spent a lot of time in the Bulldog and also in Ziggys near the church and it was so easy to get back to this hotel from them.
On checking out we could leave our bags in a locked room until we had to go to the airport.
Would definitely stay here again due to its location and good deals you can get !

Second stay here and again cant fault the place. Perfect location for bars and sights, rooms cleam and good size and staff always helpful. Will be back again without doubt next year for Kings Day. Worth it for the street party on the doorstep

Stayed for 4 nights beginning of April 2014. Good location, close to everywhere you wanna see in Amsterdam.Near Central Station. And a lot of Tourist Centres around if you do not know what to do.There is a big table with cards of cafes, museums, entertainment places near the receoption. We requested room on top,not suitable if you are with children or old people, please take in mind.A lot of stairs!!! But there is an elevator, just remember to follow the tables where your room is.Quite good breakfast, good and helpful staff.Old Church stopped ringing at midnight, and start morning at 8 am.But not bothering,as we were out all the day.
Noisy? But you are in the middle of the centre, can`t expect a quite and cosy hotel.
Basically good.

Room Tip: Young people- rooms on tops.

To start with the positives - the hotel is in a great location, and the room was very clean - but - rather than being a bedroom it was more of a corridor with two beds in it - our headboards were back to back with enough room to walk to the wardrobe at the bottom of the room, the shower room wasn't big enough to swing a cat in (not that I would have!) but really small - and we paid £95 for the room! They did move us to an upgraded room the next night which I would have rated as pretty standard.
For older people there are quite a few steep stairs to be negotiated - there is a lift to each floor but even so there are still stairs to be climbed! So really not suitable.

Stayed for three nights at the hotel and chose not to have the breakfast. It was in a great location to see lots of the centre of Amsterdam and very close to central station. We got a superior room which was nice, not amazing but nice. Was slightly disappointed that we only got a shower instead of a stated shower/tub combo.

I thought the bed was very comfy although the sheets on it were a bit weird and could get annoying. The complaint lower down somewhere about them not changing towels - it's stated on one of the door hangers that they will change these if you leave them on the floor, and they will change bedding daily at request. They are trying to be environmentally friendly, which is why they don't do it automatically.

It was clean and the luggage room was locked by a key kept behind the desk, which I as very impressed by. The price for the location was great and we couldn't really ask for much more for the price!

Price and location were okay but if I could have chosen myself this would not have been my choice for the following reasons: my first room was way too hot to stay in so I was given another room. Even with the use of the elevator there were several stairs and narrow hallways to navigate. Breakfast service started quite late. The wifi only works in the lobby... Service was friendly though.

Room Tip: Street side rooms have better view but some are too hot (and no AC) but are over noisy bars. Room 21...
