“Nice quadruple option and great staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2013

The Hotel Europa 92 (not to be confused with a hotel of similar name in Amsterdam) was a great option for me and 3 teenagers. We really needed the 4 beds. Once you figure out the tram system - you will see this is a great option. It is right in front of No. 1 tram stop. I may have missed it, but am hoping the hotel adds public transportation directions to their website. We took the 197 bus RIGHT outside the airport and it took us directly to Leidseplein...from there a very short walk to hotel - we had to stop to ask for directions so explicit directions on website would have been helpful. But this bus was great - I think it was about 16 Euros total for the 4 of us and it took less than 1/2 hour and was SO EASY. They even sell tickets right at the bus stop because it's such a popular option. Beds were comfy...Yes...you could hear the trams once in a while but with the windows shut it was hardly noticeable.
The garden in the back was lovely - so beautiful and such a surprise!!!
Staff was very helpful they even printed out my Anne Frank tickets that were sent to me via email...BTW a good option...bypass the line - even if you arrive earlier at the museum before your actual printed time - walk to the front of the line and see if they'll take you then...most likely they will.

The location of this hotel is excellent, it is walking distance to most of the main areas of Amsterdam. Right next to Vondelpark and Leidseplein. We only stayed here for one night, so for this reason the location of this hotel was a massive pro.The staff was very easy going but not exactly helpful. Luggage was difficult to carry up and we had absolutely no help. The room is pretty small and the bathroom is meh. Bed is pretty uncomfortable. The worst though was the smoking scent in our bedroom. It absolutely lingered on our clothing from just sitting in the room. We had absolutely no idea there was smoking allowed in this room. The room was definitely sold as a nonsmoking. For this reason, I give it three stars. However, if you don't mind the smoking smell, this hotel is great in terms of value and location.

Stayed here for 2 nights in November. Hotel is in a perfect location for exploring the staff were great in recommending places to visit. Rooms rare basic but in such a beautiful city it really is all you need! They are clean and tidy. Breakfast set you up for a day wandering. I would stay here again and again already planning a trip back. Thanks to everyone who works there!!!

I had a great time staying at Europa 92. The staff were generally friendly and the breakfast was good. It's right in the heart of the city, near to Vondelpark, Dam Square area etc. I used the tram and occasionally taxis to get to certain places. I got to see a lot of the major tourist attractions and also went on a canal cruise at night time which was lovely. I would love to visit Amsterdam again and I would be happy to book and stay at this hotel again.

The hotel location is good and the staff is friendly/helpful. My room was very small; I had to lift my carry-on sized suitcase over the desk which blocked easy access to the room. It was somewhat clean. I would classify it as more of a motel than a hotel. I was actually quite glad that I only had to stay for one night. To get there using the tram system, take Tram 1 - not 2 or 5 (I was told I could take 1, 2 or 5).

went to amsterdam for new year and stayed here for 3 nights, check in was very easy and communication between myself and staff was really good...before going upto our room the staff showed us a map and directions of how to get to popular tourist areas or anywhere you wanted to go.
went upto the hotel room, only think which could really complain about was the corridors and doors themselves but hey we didnt have to sleep in the corridor did we. The room itself was very nice and modern, with a few overlooking the main street which was also nice. The interior was very modern and the bed was very compfortable. On new years day didnt get out of bed until 6.pm very hungover and staff didnt want to annoy us by coming in and changing the towels and beds so they left the towels inside our room by the door for us to change them ourselves when we were ready which was good.

The breakfast is small but you can help yourself as much as you want, there's enough there for a good breakfast which was a nice selection of cereals, yogurts, juices, breads and meats selection. The breakfast room was nicely modern decorated.

cannot complain about the hotel i just wouldnt recommend amsterdam for a New years celebration, no organisiation anywhere, we went on the new years eve barcrawl in the end which was 50 euros but included an hour of free vodka and free drinks on entry to clubs/bars, also we took our own vodka in my bag so only spent 7 euros between the two of us all night.

Visited the heineken and bols museums whihc were both really easy to approach from the hotel and they staff from the hotel drawn the directions again for us to reach them. Would recomend visiting both of these museums as the heineken was 16 euros and bols was 10...you get free alcohol in both :)...take your student card and take advantage of the leaflets within the hotel to get discounted entry to places.

would visit this hotel again if i did go back to Dam but wouldnt be for a while.

The location for this hotel is ideal. just 10 min walk to stedelik modern art museum, vondelpark and central Amsterdam. Trams go past the hotel( take tram No.1 in to town) regulary so this is ideal as a base. However the qualty of our stay was average to poor due to a number of things that were not quite right.
Firstly we arrived in the night time and there was no working overhead light in our room so had to stumble to the bed for the bedside lamp. We wanted a double room but we had been given a twin, with the beds pushed together, but the beds moved apart every time you went near the middle! There was no tea, coffee making facilitys in the room. The TV was an old analogue CRT type and all stations had a very bad signal and so couldnt watch most of them due to the interference.
The noise from the street below is quite high especially as it was double glazed I was supprised how much you can hear. The Trams also can be felt and heard rumbling by every 10 mins.
The doors to the room are very thin, you can hear Everything outside, including guests in their room opersite our room. So i assume they could hear us too.
The room was cleaned every day but there was still mould in the bath edge seals, so i would not want a bath there. the shower head had limescale marks too so not cleaned oftern.
we could smell cannabis at night as some guests were smoking in their room, depite this not being acceptable and a notice is displayed in the rooms that you will be evicted if you do so, and charged if you set off fire alarm.

All in all not that great experience, the fact that the location was good ment we put up with these anoyances and still enjoyed our holiday. The staff were nice and did try to assist in getting another room, but none availible. Thus avoid room 24.

Room Tip: avoid street side rooms; too noisy. take the number 1 tram in to town. get a 24 hr day ticket fr...

Dear Jon,

We are very sorry to hear about your not so great experience in our hotel.
As Amsterdam is a busy city it is hard for a hotel to keep the noise down, but we are trying everything we can. Also we are working on the fact about the thin doors and we're replacing all of the TV's in the rooms to make them more modern.

If you happen to go Amsterdam again and choose our hotel because of the great location, please let us know by phone 0031206188808 or email: info@europa92.nl and we will make sure your stay is going to be as you've planned!

Thank you for your response on Tripadvisor. It really helps us to improve our hotel.

Kind regards,

Ilse
