“beautiful place, so romantic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2013

Brilliant hotel. Beautiful entrance, lounge, eating and drinking areas. Breakfast and meals were perfect. Complimentary coffee and fresh pastries every morning. All staff very friendly and helpful. Such a romantic place and city, so much my partner proposed at the diamond factory. woooohoooo.

Room Tip: We were upgraded to a beautiful huge room. My partner had secretly emailed them in advance to ask fo...

Stayed here for two nights and would return. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Iris helped us with finding another hotel when we decided to extend our stay as Albus was fully booked. Great location and hotel modern and clean. We had a standard room which was very small and rooms are expensive but have discovered there are no nice cheap hotels in Amsterdam with central location!

Room Tip: No noise at back of hotel -standard queen bed rooms are tiny

The Albus hotel is one of my favorites when on business trips in Amsterdam. Not only is the location fantastic (across the street from flower market, next to the large movie theater Pathe, next to Herengracht canal & close to Kalverstraat shopping street), the hotel is very clean and modern.

The rooms I have stayed in were quite small, but they compensate for being so modernly built. I must say that I have always stayed alone with limited luggage... With 2 persons and 2 huge suitcases it might get a bit crampy... Every room has it's own Nespresso machine, built-in flat screen TV and good size bathroom with a huge rain-shower (+ bathrobe, slippers etc). Bed is comfortable and isolation ok. I havent had a room on the street side, so dont know how noisy that might be.
There is only 1 elevator, so in the mornings it might be busy...

Breakfast is not very impressive, nor worth the money if it's not included (€19.90 and the selection is quite limited). I would rather venture out into some cafe's (for business trips it's fine :))

I keep returning to this hotel :)

Room Tip: Rooms not facing the street might be quieter. Some rooms require extra stairs after the elevator, so...

The albus, was a great place to base our day from, accessible for all our needs transportation wise, all the attractions close by, with great fresh breakfast, and my teenage son thought it was 'cool' !

Would recommend for modern people.

Room Tip: All good, main road outside, but not a problem.

I thought the room availablity was sort of like a "bait and switch" as we thought had a different room than what we had, were shown a larger room for more money, took it as was indeed nicer, but didn't we ask for it originally? We were very impressed with the women at the front desk for friendliness, helpfulness and appearance.

Room Tip: The room with the king size bed was nice. The bathroom we felt was an upgrade from an old hotel and...

Agreed that street-facing room noisy but it is in the heart of a major city. Room clean & refreshed every day, staff really helpful, down to the receptionist who brought a drink of water whilst I stood outside guarding our bikes as husband checked in. Restaurant was excellent if pricey. Didn't quite get the dark purple interior. Ideal location for exploring central Amsterdam

Stayed in AMS prior to my London Visit.

Location is great, I would say nearly anything and everything is a 15 minute walk. Close enough where you are walking through the streets with the canals and homes with personality.

Service, first off I arrived at 10 am, not sure what is check in - but a after speaking to the front desk they immediately told me what rooms were available. In addition they disclosed that the 1st floor gets street noise (technically their 1st floor is on the second floor of the building).

I didn't mind the street noise as I am one that hibernates - it was a nice gesture for them to have earplugs in the room.

Breakfast in the morning really hit the spot. All fresh ingredients , not too much or too little.

If you are an early riser with an empty stomach the 7:00 am breakfast start is the best AMS gets. No restaurants open prior to 7.

Overall nice place - I do recommend it. Just keep in mind the website makes the place look hip n chic but that couldn't be any further from the truth. There is tons of dust on those wine bottles and the bar is weak.

Great free coffee in the morning and friendly staff.
