“Very good hotel, but not at walking distance from touristic points”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2012

A very good hotel: nice rooms and very clean. Free and good wi-fi. Good breakfast, which should be paid as an option. It is not at walking distance from any touristic point of Amsterdam, but it is near the Amstel Station from where you can easily reach any corner of the city. Some more details about my room. The locker in the room is large: 40(D) x 40(W) x 20(H) cm. There is also a small fridge. The room is not particularly large, but the furniture is very well planed with lots of space inside. It has a large desk bench, proper to write and use the notebook. The bathroom has also lots of shelves to organize all toilet items.

Very nice, modern and clean hotel. Although rooms are basic but you can find everything which is needed in room or hotel. Its near to Amstel metro and train station. you can buy a 3 or 5 days ticket for metro in tourist info. center and go to anywhere of central of city by metro or train. but I suggest to tourists to buy a book (I amsterdam) of tourist info. center which is contain ticket of metro and card for museum and city trip.
Also hotel rents bicycle for 13 Euro per day. Unfortunately the location of hotel is far from city center. The hotel has Ironing facility in all floor in the room against elevators.

Room Tip: Rooms with view of canal.

I stayed 5 nights at the Casa 400 Hotel, located in the south of Amsterdam that I enjoyed a lot. Compared to the type of rooms you find in Amsterdam, I had a double room with King size bed, large enough to feel comfortable, clean and very quite. If you cannot bear the noise of building construction outside, ask for a quite room as they have a huge number of rooms.
Note that if you go for business, you do not need to bring any iron machine, as at each floor, they installed one for free.
As I came with my wife for our honey moon, they offered us breakfasts which is amazingly great, delicious with a lot of fresh and cooked stuff. If you pay it your self, it will cost you 14€ per person, which is expensive.

Room Tip: ask for quite room as, outside, a construction work is running.

The location is attractive if you have any business in the Amstel area as I did. Otherwise the metro and railway is just a few minutes away and you can get easily to the cetntre of Amsterdam with 3 metro lines. The access to the Schipol airport is also easy from the railway station with an easy stopover you are at the airport in 15 to 29 minutes.

Room Tip: If you do not like a view with direct insight into another building try to get a room with a view to...

Lovely hotel about a 5 minute walk from Amstel station. We had a room on the 8th floor and had asked for a canal view but ended up with a view of the building under construction next door (!) The first night we arrived we decided to go to the bar and the girl serving us was very miserable and not at all friendly - not just to us, but to all of the guests in the bar. Thankfully the rest of the hotel staff were lovely and would go out of their way to help you.
The room was very warm and with only a tiny window to open, it got very stuffy in there. The air con isn't really air con as it only lowers the temp by a few degrees (which they do tell you in the hotel info) so I asked for a fan which was quickly provided. Unfortunately with the building work going on opposite, we were disturbed at 7am every morning when the work started (weekdays only) which was annoying but we soon got back to sleep (probably as we were really tired due to so much walking in the city). The bed was super-comfortable and I must find out where they got the pillows from as I want some like that !!
We only had breakfast there on the last morning to save time but I was very disappointed with it, especially at 15 euros each; the food was practically inedible - very poor indeed.
Lastly, there is not much to do in the immediate area as it's a residential area so we found that we were going into the city and having to leave by midnight to catch the train and tram back. I know they run a night bus service but I was so used to the train and tram. Would I go back? Probably not as I would look for something a lot closer to the city.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the 7th floor or above with a canal view.

Nice for business users but not so great for a romantic trip. The room was basic, clean and functional. The breakfast was standard business hotel fare. The Services listed in the room promised a phsyio on site who could do massages but they had no idea what I was talking about when I tried to book at reception.
