if the hotel was in bad condition or old we certainly didn't see it, although the rooms are not so large we weren't affected.we spent most of the day in amsterdam which is only on or two stops away by tram, you can walk to the museums which helped and there is a nice bar in the hotel although it was not open late. The management said if they wanted drinks we could buy them and take them up into the room.

Room Tip: anything on the back of the building, the church in the front rings its bells at night

One star hotel. All is bad except the staff and location next to Van Gogh and RJK museums. Old hotel, dirty, uncomfortable. Wifi only at lobby. Run away! Only for emergency or if you are without options.

Arrived on 17 May 2015. Nothing in our room worked , no electricity, dripping shower, window would not shut hence a cold draft filled the room. Curtain was of its rails and no one to fix anything. My room was finally changed to a larger room right opposite the church bells that rang all night. We arrived to the hotel the next day after a day trip to find that someone else had occupancy of the room we had been moved to. We had all our things moved to another room with our knowledge or permission. This was very unprofessional. The man at the desk did not seemed to think so. He apparently has been working there for 20years. No cooked breakfast. Limited selection. Dishes are washed by hand and cup still had coffee stains from the previous user. Hotel is really dirty and dilapidated. I will never use this hotel again. The staff were very rude and uncooperative. Worst hotel I ever lived in.

Room Tip: Front rooms are noisy

i had a wonderful time staying in this hotel. the staff were very welcoming especially an englishman working the nights. The rooms were nice and cosy they have bike rentals which is not only useful but alot of fun at a decent price. The food was a continental style breakfast which was fine with enough choice for a few days stay. The area is pretty. Very close to the city centre id definatly come back here and book again.

Let me start with the good things; The personell was very nice, i had a great chat with a very symphatetic and nice cook during breakfast. The bed was very soft and clean, although a little difficult to lay in with two people as it sank it quite a lot in the middle. The location is great as it was between amsterdam south and central. The room was quite cozy.

Now the negative points in listform;

1. The save did not work. (Don't use this hotel if you carry any valuables with you)

2. The shower was leaking all night and there was no way to make it stop.

3. 3 of the 5 energy plugs did not work. Also the one where the phone was plugged in did not work. A big minus point in my oppinion.

4. The window was nailed shut for some reason.

5. We tried to rent a bike but the first one we got had a completely broken tire that almost fell off the wheel. then we got another bike with two locks but unfortunately one of the keys did not fit so we were not able to use that bike either. There was still one bike standing but the reception was unable to find the keys. In the end we arrived an hour late to an appointment thanks to that ordeal.

6. The breakfast was more of a hostel breakfast than a hotel breakfast. They served the cheapest (in terms of quality and price) ingredients (ham, cheese, jelly etc) one could possibly use and not enough cups and plates for all the guests. The jelly tasted solely like sugar to me and i did not dare to touch the ham.

7. In the hotelroom one can find a booklet that tells one about the hotel. In that booklet i read that there should be a bar open in the hotel from 12:00am to 02:00am every night. That was not the case, what i found very annoying since i planned on having a last drink before bed there. They promise things they can't keep.

We only stayed one night. All in all i think this "hotel" is fine for one night but i wouldn't stay there much longer. I can imagine there being a lot better options.

Stayed in this hotel with my partner for 2 nights over Easter.
The location is pleasantly quiet.
The staff were friendly, especially the black guy serving breakfast was extremely helpful.
The room was tiny. there are no refreshments. the double bed had 2 single duvets. the window has been screwed shut and could not be opened - I was absolutely roasting every night and in the mornings we kept the room door open to get some air in, the lack of fresh air was the biggest negative for me. The shower was of good pressure, there was soap and showergel, plenty of towels but no bath mat.
Breakfast was good, although no warm food like fried eggs or sausages etc.
Close to tram lines.

Overall, I would not stay again. It is worth paying a few £££ more and get a better nights sleep elsewhere.

Room Tip: it seems that Amsterdam attracts party goers, so you won't be able to avoid noisy drunk people m...
