“great location, nice staff, poor facilities”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2014

the location is great (right in the center), the staff is very kind and helpful. But the rooms are very poor: not clean, stuffy, the mattress uncomfortable, the closet door broken. the breakfast - also very basic and poor. for low budget travel only. Also - across the street is a main church, so you need to be willing to withstand bell ringings around the clock.

Room Tip: if you ask to change rooms, they'll be happy to accommodate.

From the location, to the breakfast, to the helpful staff, the Omega Hotel is the place to stay. We arrived in Amsterdam to fine the weather to be much warmer that we had expected. Fortunately, we had a room with air conditioning which is not too common in Amsterdam. We had a great view of the massive church across the street and found the hourly bell ringing to be a nice local touch. The breakfast was buffet style with everything from eggs, many meats, and all the extras to go with it. The price for this fine hotel much was one of the lowest we found. So, all and all, it is a great place to stay and close to the major museums as well. If you have any problems, just see Aphrodite at the front desk, and she will take good care of you.

My partner and I are travelling through Europe (on a budget) and came across Omega Hotel for our Amsterdam stay. All we require in a room is a bed, shower and toilet....and that is exactly what we got. Yes the rooms are small and outdated, but that is what makes them so quaint. Personally I loved the entrance! Sure there are better Hotels around, but they also have a different price bracket, and we could not afford them so we were more than happy with our 3 star style accommodation.
Location is the hummer! Walking distance to the tourist sites... exactly why we booked here.

We stayed at omega and if you read the negative reviews they're wrong! We found the staff to be very polite and helpful helping us with details of where to go and how to get there. The room was fabulous and clean, air con worked well. We had a pretty view of the garden and the bed was comfortable. It's location could not be beaten! Breakfast was tasty and bikes provided. We will defiantly be coming back and staying at the omega. Thanks for a great, affordable stay in Amsterdam.

Room Tip: Top floor.

Was going back to The Netherlands for yet another Business trip.. didn't know which hotel to book so decided to stay at the Omega because had a great experience last time. I'm usually not the type to go back to the same place twice. Once again the contact I had was with an Australian gentleman who was very kind and helpful. Would you believe.. he actually remembered me from my last visit. Made me feel very welcome and made sure that there was a taxi waiting to pick me up in the morning to get to where I needed to go. Prices are good Service is even better! LOVIN IT!

Hotel:

Affordable / great value ! Great location !! Very welcoming staff !!! Silent area ! Clean !
Will be definitely staying at this hotel again !

Points of interest nearby:

P.C. Hooftstraat - small but in same time extraordinary oand charming and Amsterdams best shopping district. Everything from Levi's to Patek Philippe ! Loved it !
Leidseplein - grab some beer and come back for afterparty ! Have to be there and do that !
Rembrandt National Museum, the Van Gogh Museum and the Stedelijk Modern Art Museum ( Dutch golden age, baroque, post-Impressionist and a lot, plenty of new stuff at Stedelijk ) !
Vondelpark - 5 minutes "straith ahead" walking distance ! Enjoy your day in this lovely park !

Transportation :

Piece of cake ! From this point you may find several connections depending where you're heading to !
Bunch of trams are running from Museumplein. You may pick tram 16 just in front of the hotel. Tram 16 goes directly to city center, central station and a lot more ! Station in front of the hotel is called Jacob Obrechtstraat/de Lairessestraat.

Restaurants - plenty of restaurants nearby. Amsterdam by itself is full of restaurants, you'll find it everywhere ! You will be safe as long as you have chocolate on you ;)

Go for it ! It's worthed ! Amsterdam is always fun and it's more fun if you are around here !
