“Nice staff & good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2014

Because of a mistake of a travel agency we could not stay in this hotel, but the guy at the reception (Samuel) was really nice and he helped us a lot. He got us a new room in the bed & breakfast Rooms & co.
I can't say anything about the rooms, but the location of the hotel is really good.

I definitely wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone!!

The service is really bad and absolutely unfriendly and not qualified.
The rooms are okay. Nothing fancy but wouldn't expect this from a 3*** hotel. Big problem was though that we had no warm water during our whole stay. Even after explaining it at reception, nothing changed.
The breakfast, if you can call it breakfast is a joke -an hour before breakfast buffet was supposed to close there was no more food left and the kitchen staff said that they had nothing else to offer.
We tried complaining about different issues (quite a long story) but we never received a feedback from the hotel - I'm pretty sure they just don't care.

My advise, better invest some more $ and book a hotel with a minimum standard!

This is our first night at the Omega and I'm glad I wasn't scared away by these reviews. True the rooms are outdated and our room was a bit dirty (a half a cookie on the floor when we arrived), but the room was large and the lovely huge windows let in nice light. Be forewarned that the mattresses are quite soft. But I want to add that the shower has a very strong stream which is really nice. The towels are thin and not plentiful. But the room is equipped with extra pillows and a hair dryer. The location is REALLY nice. I've been in others in this neighborhood and this is the most run down of the 3 I've stayed in, but the room is larger than most and it's a bit cheaper than the others. After the first few minutes of disappointment, actually not too bad. I hope the breakfast is nice in the morning. For those sensitive to smoke, know that if your windows face the courtyard in the back, guests go out there to smoke and the smoke can get into your room through vents. Finally, this is the third hotel I've stayed in this week (London, Brugge, now Amsterdam) and the FREE INTERNET here is a relief! Thank you. It works well and makes up for the other issues.

Room Tip: Take a first floor room if you don't like stairs. The LIFT/elevator isn't available after 7...

I paid for this hotel up front, my mistake. I was so disgusted I could not stay and found another hotel. The room I was given was: missing it's tv, the internet did not work, there was a large hole in the wall, the safe did not work and the shower was a small trickle in a filthy dark cubical. The room was so depressing, more like a doss house that the claimed three star hotel described by the website. The carpet threadbare and the wall grimy with years of no decoration. I would rather sleep in a ditch!

Room Tip: Stay at another hotel!

We stayed for a couple of nights at the Omega hotel and overall it wasn't a good experience. Only advantage was the location, in a quiet neighborhood close to the museums and Vondelpark, about 15-20 minutes by foot from the canals. Otherwise, the hotel is outdated and quite dirty, and I would strongly advise against staying here, even for one night.

The room we stayed in was located on the fourth floor and it probably hadn't been vacuumed or cleaned for some time before we arrived. The carpet was dirty and there was hair all over the bathroom, including inside the shower. Although we had booked a double bed, the room had two single beds put together, with a large space inbetween. One of the beds didn't have a pillow, but a piece of incredibly hard foam, which was impossible to sleep on. Sheets and towels were fresh, though were not changed during our stay. There was dust everywhere, on the table, on the nightstands, on the bedside. The drapes were dirty, dusty and torn. Furniture was outdated and poorly maintained.

Even though supposedly the hotel offered Internet, WiFi reception was poor even at the ground floor in the reception area, and virtually in-existent in the rooms located on the top floors.

The breakfast was basic, but the quality was ok (bread, cheese, salami, butter, yoghurt, milk, cereal, jam, chocolate spread, some fruit, juice, coffee, tea), however the breakfast area was too small to accommodate all the hotel's guests and would often become crowded. Also, the kitchen lady wasn't doing a very good job at cleaning the plates and cutlery.

The Omega hotel needs a serious renovation and should really start paying more attention to the way rooms are being cleaned.

Looking back, I wish we had payed a little bit more and stayed at a cleaner and nicer hotel.

very good location, not far from the museums. quiet neighborhood. the hotel itself isn`t very modern, but that can be said about most buildings in this area. receptionists were polite and helpfull. the room had a little odd smell (that was gone veru quickly or maybee we got used to it...).it was clean enough. breakfast was nothing less than we expected.nothing more, too.
overall, if the hotel is intended for sleeping and not for staying the whole day, i would recommend it regarding its` affordable price/

After reading the last few reviews on Tripadvisor I started to panic about what we would find when we arrived at the Omega... we had booked this through easyjet holidays and expected basic/budget accommodation. When we arrived at the Omega we checked in and was handed a room key for No. 45... We headed up to the fourth floor and was about to go into room 45 when the lady from housekeeping very politely told us that room 45 had guests in it. Reception had obviously made a mistake but she would ring down for us and get this sorted. Well my heart sunk and I had images of us running round looking somewhere to stay. Very quickly we were told to go down to reception , which we did and we were handed a key for room 34. Once we got into the room everything was fine. Yes it is dated and could do with a paint in areas but it was clean, the beds were comfortable and we had a balcony out onto the street which was lovely. The church clock didn’t annoy us and the location of the Omega is fantastic… It is basic/budget...
