“Pleasantly surprised”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2012

Having stayed at over a dozen hotels in Amsterdam for the price, this is one of the best. Don’t get me wrong, it’s nothing amazing or wow factor and the décor and standard of rooms do need some TLC and re-papering however, the service received from reception was fantastic at all times. They could not have been more helpful or friendly. There is a lift to all floors. The breakfast was very good for a continental style. The breads and rolls exceptionally fresh. Good choice of juices. There is a 24 hour bar. Whilst the rooms are relatively small, the beds are one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in. Water pressure for the shower was very poor. You can reach the hotel via central station by either a taxi which will cost approx 16 Euros or tram number 2 right outside the main station to stop omega. A downside is the hotel is very near a church that bells ring on the hour and half hour all through the night! Overall, a very nice experience.

Hotel was hard to find. A bit more out of the city centre than expected. Receptionist couldn't understanding and speak English. Rooms was a very small. Not enough space to hang your clothes. Not enough space to more about in the twin room in one person is standing at the dressing desk. One of the bath room towels had two holes in it, only noticed it when used it for the first time. Did not receive clean towels everyday.

It was ok considering we were out all day and just used the hotel to for somewhere to sleep.

I went with my husband in Amsterdam while he had a business trip there and we were looking for something near Van Gogh gallery or anyway area of Jacob Obrechtstraat....After being there, we saw many other nearby and they looked from outside better than what we had, but maybe next time.
Small, very small rooms but i guess for Amsterdam , you should expect such thing.
What was bad, the beds and pillows, which make our resting a hell.
Bed smell too in the room, like old establishment .Staff hardly speaking good english, always not at their desk, etc
Good thing is that opposite to the hotel there is an elegant italian restaurant.Otherwise, nothing in this hotel to make us come back.

Room Tip: Ours was far from being a good one. i doubt that they have a good one...

Very laid back. Ideally located. Not well run by North American standards (NAS).

If you are looking for the NAS, don't go there. You will be disappointed. Very much overpriced for what you get, but Amsterdam is an expensive city and room are small because of the architecture of housing in that city.

The big american chain have hotel near the Central Station..... and the hot district.

We traveled as a group of 5 people and we were accommodated in 2 doubles and one single room. We had no problems throughout our stay, the staff was very friendly and helful, they provided us a map and guidence to find important places in the city. Although we had a pretty cold weather, the rooms were heated, they were clean and the beds confortable.
We did however had a problem with the hot water in the showers in the morning as they ran out of hor water and we had to handle with the cold one.
The area is very quiet, we could get on foot easily to Museum plein and also throgh the park into the area with food and drinks.
Really nice stay, we could go there anytime in the future.

Room Tip: Higher floors rooms seem to have strange noise from the A/C units probably.

Situated in an affluent area behind the Concert Hall this is a poor quality budget hotel.
The room had peeling wallpaper, marks on the wall which looked suspiciously like blood, torn curtains and bed linen, and the shower room was half-painted. Not all the electric sockets worked and the room was dirty.
The breakfast buffet was adequate but make sure you arrive well in time ( 7 - 10am) as we were refused more milk for the coffee, and eggs as they said they were not prepared to replenish them.
We also refused to eat breakfast there for the last two days as we noticed while having a drink one evening mice running along the breakfast worktop.
The staff ranged from friendly to mostly dour.
Although a small-time budget hotel there is no excuse for lack of cleaniness. To a degree it spoilt my pleasure of the break in Amsterdam.

Room Tip: Avoid the hotel.

Room was fine, breakfast passable but cold showers make me think I will be going elsewhere should I return to Amsterdam.
