Wonderful canal house with view. Very steep stairs made it realistic. Suitcase taken care of immediately - no worries. Superb room service. No problem that I had to cancel second night's stay,

Very well located, on a well known canal street and seemed to be a short walk from most historic spots. Rooms are charming (mine didnt have much of a view), but through a maze of corridors and lifts. Bathrooms large and well appointed.. Free internet was great. Excellent breakfast spread but poor service in the breakfast area (understaffed?). Front office staff were excellent.

The highlight was the fantastic artworks everywhere!

This hotel is in a great location. We were able to walk to most of the famous sites and those that we couldn't, it was no big deal because we were just steps away from the nearest tram. Also, the hotel is on a side street/canal so it's quiet but you are in the heart of the city. The service was great...the front desk staff was very helpful and knowledgeable about Amsterdam, and if they didn't know an answer they would look it up and get right back to us. The only negative is that you do have to pay for breakfast if you want it, but there are so many great cafes and bakeries nearby that we just grabbed something while we were out. The rooms were beautiful and very clean, and they had all the amenities you would need, ie hair dryer, shampoo/conditioner, lotion, etc.

Fantastic opportunity of being in a neighbourhood with locals but within walking/biking distance of tourist spots (ie. floating flower market, Orange Bike rental, boutique shops). Very polite, helpful service. Room was beautifully decorated and clean. Highly recommended for those willing to pay a bit more for luxurious comfort and location, and wanting something unique other than a chain hotel.

We just got back from Amsterdam, and loved staying at the Ambassade. The front desk staff were the friendliest I've ever seen. They really helped us find things, made excellent recommendations for food and activities, and helped book things for us. The hotel is a charming canal house, and we loved our room with vaulted ceiling and canal view. The extra bed in the entry room was also perfect for our daughter. We'd definitely return.

This was our first trip to Amsterdam and we traveled with 2 college aged boys and my 80 year old mother. I had requested a room for my mother near the elevator so she would not have to deal with so many stairs and she was given a wonderful room facing the canal. I booked the rooms directly with the hotel by email and they were very helpful and prompt.

All the service was excellent. We were given terrific restaurant recommendations and if we could not get reservations at one they booked us at another great place. I loved the location. It is on Herengracht, a beautiful canal, but it is within easy walking distance of other hot spots. I can't wait to go back and I am shopping for a Dutch bike to use here in Minneapolis

This was a great place in a great location. It is composed of a couple of houses or apartment type buildings just adjacent to the front office, so I had to go out of the front door and 100yds down the street to get to my room, then in a door and into the hall of a building that had maybe 5 rooms. Kind of unusual but that is how it goes when the houses are all really narrow. My room was very, very clean and interesting in layout in that there was a down and upstairs to it (it was a basic room). The downstairs was a very small (12 x 12) sitting room and the bathroom was down there. Then there was a very steep and tight spiral staircase up to the bedroom which was also really nice. Very cool lighting around with dimmers and tv's on each level. If you have mobility issues, probably not for you, if you are a couple looking for a romantic getaway, this is a good place. It rained and they have umbrellas to borrow at the desk. They also rented me a bike, but it was in pretty bad shape (breaks were iffy and the gears did not work) so go to a bike rental place for that because they keep their bikes better. And the place is pronounced "Am bah sahd", like the marquis de sade. I was asking people where it was and I was pronouncing it very incorectly and getting blank stares.
