“Lovely canal property, centrally located”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2014

Stayed in family bedroom August 2014. The room was actually a ground-level apartment adjacent to main hotel property, with a separate entrance. The staff was welcoming and helpful. The accommodations were nice, but the room was small for 4 people and there was too much furniture in the space. The location of the property was a big plus, a quiet neighborhood very close to the Dam and shopping district. Based on the room we had, we would probably not return as a family, but if it were just my wife and I, we would consider another stay in the main hotel. Room service is available, but we did not avail of this given all of the dining options in Amsterdam.

Great location on a canal with lovely views from our room. The furnishing is all historic but clean and with a very modern and comfortable bathroom. It was a bit pricey but the room size was good and the staff very helpful.
The only drawbacks were that breakfast (superb, extensive & served in a beautiful room) was a bit pricey, the WIFI could be a bit 'hit & miss' and there were no tea & coffee making facilities in the room.
TIP: On check out the staff said that we should have asked for tea & coffee making facilities at the start of our holiday and they would have provided a kettle etc for us.

Room Tip: Ask for a canal view & kettle in your room.

Really a nice place to stay in this lovely city. The rooms are wunderfull and filled with love. We were in the 4th floor with a breathtaking view over the Herrengracht. The breakfast for 17€ is really a great thing... Champagne....Croissants.....Eggs in all variants. The People are so lovely and happy to help you in any case. (Taxi, Vouchers for the VanGogh Museum or Recommentions for a good Restaurant). Be sure we will come back soon.

We were so so happy to have found this marvellous hotel on the herengraght in old Amsterdam. Several ancient properties carefully converted into a single hotel with an astonishing selection of 3,000 personally signed books by the authors all of whom have stayed at the hotel!

Superb location for exploring Amsterdam!

We stayed at the Ambassade Hotel for 3 nights. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. The location is wonderful, the rooms bright and airy, and the staff extremely helpful. We requested a canal view room and were not disappointed. We would definitely stay here again and refer anyone we know to this hotel.

I cannot say enough nice things about this hotel. The location is fantastic; its on one of the most beautiful canals in Amsterdam and so very close to many attractions...Anne Frank House, Van Gogh Museum Concertgebouw, Rijksmuseum, etc. It is simply delightful to walk the halls of this hotel and look at the lovely art displayed. There is a beautiful library, sitting room, and waiting area. The breakfast is fabulous. If I ever return to Amsterdam, I will most certainly stay here again.

Room Tip: The rooms that overlook the canal are beautiful! We visited in July and the days were extra long and...

We only were able to stay one night at the Ambassade and wish we could of stayed longer! The hotel is located in a very nice area in Amsterdam along the "Gentleman's Canal" which is among very old wealthy merchants houses from the 1600's. (Mansions) On the way to hotel our cab told us that we picked a great place so we were pretty exited. I LOVED all the exquisite art pieces that the hotel had skillfully placed around. I also loved the old world charm of this place! I love to stay in unique historical places and this hotel did not disappoint! Our room overlooked the canal and it was so beautiful with the blue fabrics and wonderful antique pieces. The bed was amazing!! The staff was extremely helpful and so very friendly, they arranged all of our museum tickets and our canal cruise. The service was exceptional. The hotel is within easy walking distance to all the highlights in the city. We would love to come back again! The Ambassade made our trip to Amsterdam even more special! Thank you!

What a pleasant comment to read! The Ambassade Hotel has a very large collection of art from the so-called CoBrA group, a collection of experimental artists (mainly painters) from Dutch, Danish and Belgian origin that assembled in Paris during the 1950's. These paintings are displayed throughout the lobby, halls and rooms of the Ambassade Hotel.
