“Great hotel, great location.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 9, 2014

This was our second visit to the hotel and we were not disappointed.
The staff were really helpful; wwe arrived very early having arrived from an early flight and althiiugh a room was not avbaiale they ofered us cofffee and took care of our bags, whch were placed in our room for our return.
The decor is esceleltn and the rooms and building very intersting - the hotel is a number of houses jopined together!
I would not hesitate to recoomend the hotel and would certnaly return again.

The location is ideal and it was a delight to stay here.

Modern, clean, clearly an Amsterdam boutique hotel.
I'm one of those weird people who wants to be in the middle of the city with a quiet room, Times Square and sleep till 10. Based upon previous reviews on Trip Advisor, I was concerned about street noise. So, I contacted the hotel and asked them if they could assure me a quiet room and they sure did.
Enjoy walking Amsterdam. The streets are so quaint and the stores and restaurants inviting. The people are happy and pretty and polite and friendly. This hotel requires walking, which is delightful. It is not at the museums and it is night at the Dam Square. It's in between, surrounded by Amsterdam and the canals.
The breakfasts are adequate but the price is hotel-okay.

Room Tip: Quiet faces the rear. The show, the canal view, will be louder. These are limited.

We thank you for your kind appreciative words and are glad to read you enjoyed the Ambassade Hotel and the quiet yet central location.
Indeed, the renovation of the hotel lobby has been completed with a new entry and more space to welcome our guests.
Also new are the displays of artwork all over the lobby.
Hope to have the pleasure of seeing you back soon.

The hotel staff was superb. Their welcoming attitude makes you feel like coming home. The location could not have been more perfect: right in the centre of Amsterdam, but still on an secluded part of the canal belt, so not too much noise from the streets. And the hotel and its rooms are truly beautiful. You can really see that little extra effort that has been put into its design and the management in general. Highly recommendable if you want to add this special touch to your visit to Amsterdam.

Thank you very much for complimenting the hotel's staff. They do their best to make everyone's stay as enjoyable as possible and we are happy to read you valued the service also during these busy high season days.

I choosed this hotel for a special occasion, a surprise trip to Amsterdam with the best hotel in terms of quality, price and location.

I did the right choice.

Quality; Perfect room, nice beds, good service, good minibar (free water).
Roomservice is recommended, especially if you have a canal view- room!

Probably the most romantic and nicest area in Amsterdam.

Price; You get what you pay for.

Location; 5min away from shopping at the 9 streets and Kalverstraat. 5 min away from the Flower Market. 10min away from Anne Franks House. 10min away from the Royal Palace. 15 min away from Rijksmuseum and 15min away from Red Light. We never took the tram or taxi during our stay (expect from and to Schiphol). Many restaurants and bars in the area, Lot of people and bikes, watch your back for bikes when walking during the day/weekends.

Room Tip: Canal view and top floor.

The hotel is placed right in the middle of everything:the Royal Palace, flower market, central Station are all few minutes walk away.It is a very old building which was renovated into a an unique hotel. The breakfast is sensational, the restaurant only offer but the room service is extensive and available 24 hours. Not really needed as the area is full of restaurants, bars and brasseries. The best rooms are the superb junior suites some at the street level from where you can see the water just few meters outside the windows. The reception sells transportation tickets, tours and they call a cab at any time with a 2-3 minutes maximum waiting time.It is on the expensive side but it has a fantastic personality and it will make a dreamy vacation for any occasion

Room Tip: Junior suite at the street level

The staff at the Ambassade were lovely from the second we arrived, suggesting a great steak restaurant for dinner our first night, and chatting to us about our plans for our time in Amsterdam. The hotel could not be in a better location for exploring. Our room was very cute and extremely clean, although annoyingly only accessible via a complicated route with very narrow spiral staircases.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Over the years, the Ambassade Hotel has expanded considerably. Starting with just one canal-side building in 1953, it now has 58 hotel rooms distributed among 10 of these buildings. Eight of these canal-side homes are on the "Herengracht" canal, while two others are located on the "Singel" canal. Other buildings are in use by the Ambassade Hotel too, but for other purposes: a few houses further along the Herengracht is the hotel's Float & Massage Centre known as Koan Float and 150 meters further along the Singel canal you will find the hotel's conference room. Except for the building at 335 Herengracht, all the canal-side buildings are physically interconnected. So as not to unnecessarily damage the original character of these canal-side homes, small sets of stairs and landings can be found at various places in the halls and in some of the rooms themselves to bridge the differences in floor elevations between the buildings. Over the years, two lifts have been installed, making all rooms easily accessible. The canal houses have been carefully restored to maintain their authentic character and all rooms and suites have been stylishly furnished and decorated. The furnishings are predominantly Louis XV/XVI style with the use of colorful fabrics and in all rooms and public areas you will find original paintings by artists from the famous Cobra movement. ... more   less
