“eccellente!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2013

We stayed with my family last weekend, and the stay was perfect! The hotel is in a central yet peaceful location just a short walk from the shopping streets and the city's famous canals. the staff is friendly and the rooms are spotless and comfortable. It's like being at home. I highly recommend the suites on the top floor are fabulous ....!!

i recently had a 4 night stay and couldn't have been more pleased. A charming property in a good location with wonderfully appointed rooms. I received very attentive service during my stay. The hotel exudes class & quality. I found the breakfast quality to be outstanding, fresh & delicious. You don't get champagne with your morning orange juice just anywhere!

Have just spent a few days in this absolutely perfect accommodation, I myself own a small boutique hotel in Paris and was amazed by the price and quality of this hotel. It spans within ten townhouses along it's canal. My duplex room was impeccable, high quality bedding and very well put together room. The service is incredibly kind, but then that is a Dutch reality. All this for the most affordable price in a perfect location.

Room Tip: They all seem different, the duplex has a bit of a steep stair.

Clever conversion of 4 old houses on the canal, this is a really charming place to stay in Amsterdam. Excellent location for exploring the city on foot. Service couldn't be faulted. Our (large) first floor room looked straight onto the canal with 4 windows (most unusual in these tall narrow houses!), so lots of light; very comfortable. Good breakfast buffet. Vey helpful reception staff. Modern decor including art works give an interesting twist to these wonderful old buildings. Not cheap, but well worth it for a memorable stay.

Stayed here for a few nights in the spring. Fantasic location for exploring the city. The hotel is a collection of old row houses that have been joined together. Each room is different. Ours was on the smallish side, but clean and cozy. Staff was exceedingly friendly. Overall a great choice for a few nights stay in the city.

The true test of a hotel is how it handles things that go wrong. I had specifically requested--twice--a room on a high floor overlooking the canal to avoid street noise mentioned by other TA reviewers for a 25th anniv trip and was told via email confirmation that the request would be accomodated. But upon check in--for 5 nights--we were given a lovely room on 2d floor which was incredibly noisy. When I asked to be moved, I was told the hotel was full and they would see what they could do for the second night. Linde, the wonderful person at reception, was apologetic and sent a bottle of wine to the room and promised to make things right. On the second day we were given our choice of two rooms, one of which was a two-level suite overlooking a quieter canal for the same price we had paid for our original room. It was perfect. Linde also had wonderful restaurant suggestions. There are a lot of hotel choices in Amsterdam but the Ambassade, with its terrific location, wonderful library with signed first editions by author-guests (Rushdie, Grass, Franzen) and impeccable service is a standout.

Room Tip: Unless you love street noise ALL night long, including rowdy partygoers, pick a high floor or room n...

We arrived at 11:30 knowing that our room would not be ready. We sat in the lobby, enjoying the surroundings and getting familiar with the hotel and while waiting someone from the Reception asked if we would like a coffee, which was brought to us with cookies. Our room was ready 2 hrs later, suitcases had already been brought to the room. Beautiful room, spacious, newly renovated bathroom, overlooking a canal. The wonderful breakfast with lots of choice in a very nice room completed our enjoyment of this hotel. The staff was very helpful. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Reserve long time in advance as this hotel gets booked early, especially if you wish to have a bett...
