Top 10 Reasons Why We Love The Ambassade Hotel:
10. Nice modern bathrooms.
9. It's on the Herengracht Canal and away from the younger tourist insanity.
8. Some rooms have their own entrances--it's like having your own apartment in Amsterdam.
7. Free internet in rooms and they also have a computer that guests can use to check email if you didn't bring your own laptop.
6. It's quiet and elegant.
5. 24 hour room service for drinks, snacks, and ice!
4. Romantic canal views can make any stay feel like a second honeymoon.
3. Each room is unique. Will you have a winding staircase? A balcony overlooking the canal?
2. The beds are very comfy. It's delightful to sleep in with the morning breeze coming in from the open window.
1. The staff! They are extremely helpful, discrete and make great restaurant recommendations. I spent 8 months organizing a group of friends to travel to Amsterdam to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday. The staff was attentive to every email question and had great suggestions.

We hope to be back at the Ambassade again very soon.

My wife and I did stay in this hotel for 2 nights and thoroughly we enjoyed it very much.
the staff especially at the reception were extremely helpful and friendly and always smile and patient with our requests .
Our room was good and very clean , with a view to the Canal.
Its location was also the point , close to shops and and within walking distance to almost other places.
Overall, we like the stay here much .Thankto the staff at Ambassade Hotel

Spent three nights here in early May. I just read the last few reviews and see no point in repeating what others have eloquently said already. I just wanted to add my 2 cents worth and say that this is a wonderful hotel that reflects its city. Well worth the expense.

I decided to make a last minute solo trip to Amsterdam for the weekend and chose the Ambassade based on a recommendation by conde nast traveller. I booked the last available room, a single, which was comfortable and well appointed, but without a canal view. When I inquired about the availability of a canal view, they moved me to a junior suite for an additional 50 euros, which overlooked the herengracht canal and was well worth the price. The room was well appointed, with a soft pillowtop bed, small rear facing balcony, and a sitting room with a lovely large desk and 3 huge windows overlooking the canal. The bedroom was well decorated with some great furniture, flat screen tv, and some really cool art, which is a hallmark of the hotel. The location in the nine streets was ideal, close to the tourist attractions but with a quiet, residential feel in what must be one of Amsterdam's more fashionable neighborhoods.
I didn't do breakfast in the hotel, there is a super cafe on the corner, Odette's, with excellent breakfast and lunch, outdoor seating and great views of Hollanders going about their daily lives on wheels. I have previously stayed at the Dylan and the Pulitzer, and truly preferred the Ambassade for its hominess for half the price, though it lacks the restaurants, common areas, lounges of the others. If you are looking for a scene, this isn't it, I'm 32, and must have been half the average age. But it was perfect for a quick, quiet getaway.

My four sisters, my Mom, and I all stayed at the Abassade April 24 to May 1. After booking three rooms on their website I contacted them via email with numerous questions. The staff at the hotel was always helpful and quickly answered my questions. They also got us a few dinner reservations before we arrived.

All three rooms were different. One had the canal view which was wonderful but a little noisy...especially on Queens Day Eve and Queens Day (April 30). My Mom and I stayed in a quiet room that was easy to get to from an outside door. The third room was also quiet and you got there by going up an elevator and around some corridors and up some stairs. The rooms were all nice and comfy.

We paid the extra money and had the breakfast every morning. It was the best breakfast I've had in Europe. There was a buffet of the regular items and then you ordered your eggs, omelets, or whatever. We also ordered coffee delivered to our rooms and they were always there on time. You could even order cappacinos in the afternoon and they would be there within 5 minutes! My Mother twisted her ankle the first day and didn't want to climb the stairs to the breakfast room so they set her up with breakfast in the lobby at a little table. The service at this hotel is the best!!
