“The staff made our trip!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2013

Well first off let me start by saying Amsterdam is a romantic city and The Ambassade Hotel is a romantic hotel. We pulled in after a 10 hr flight from San Francisco and our room was not ready but what hotel room is ready at 10:30am. We went for a stroll and got a bite to eat and came back to find all our bags were already in the room and gave us the key. The room was fantastic and the beds were great. Everything was clean and the view from the room was perfect. The staff was fantasic and really was top notch. They helped book dinners and taxis. We called down and ask for a water taxi to pick us up at the hotel. They had never done it before but were more than happy to help. By the way the water taxi was the best way to get around. Pulles right up to the hotel and you hop on. It was really safe and was a big highlight of our trip. The 24hr room service was great but the breakfest room was wonerfull right down to the nice lady who waited on us every morning. Was a fantastic way to start a day. The hotel is in a perfect local. Not a far walk to anything but far enough a way that in the evenings it gets quiet and it's great to just hangout infront of the hotel and soak it in. I would love to visit The Ambassade again. And a big Thank You to all the staff you made our trip!

Just about to leave this wonderful hotel in Amsterdam. We booked a room for 2 people + child age 8, but upgraded after the hotel contacted us, due to the fact that our original reserved room did not accomodate an extra bed. Got the super deluxe room, which was in fact a private apartment with kitchen, bedroom, huge living room/dining room, lovely bathroom with tub (no less than 65m" in my judgement) ! Allthough the price were somewhat high (300 euro pr night), the room and and the location of the hotel is nothing short of spectacular and fully justified the price. And since we had the fully equipped kitchen, we opted to dine in on breakfast and could have done so with dinner as well (which brings down the total cost of your stay significantly). However, we were recommended a number of very nice and fairly priced restaurants a short walk away, and we choose to go out for dinner which were very good value for money (full dinner for 3 for less than 100 euro).
Location is the best you can get in Amsterdam and from your window your a looking out to the Gentlemans Canal, which is the most beautiful in Amsterdam. Restaurants, bars and shops sourrounding the hotel are great and you are off the beaten tourist path as well.
One word of warning - parking can be tricky, since there is no P-cellar or anything like that connected to the hotel. We were lucky finding a P spot just outside the hotel, but have the parking issue in mind if you are driving here. Also, 24 hours of parking will cost you 45 euro, so driving can put some extra cost on your stay in this city...

The Ambassade is a boutique hotel on Herengracht in the canal district. It is a series of townhouses connected by elevators, stairs, passages and landings. It was a bit quirky as we were shown to our suite but we passed some wonderful art that lines the walls and passages. Our accommodation was fantastic! Top floor under the eaves with exposed beams, charming and colorful furnishings and a fine level of comfort. The bed was heavenly- nearly on a par with those at the Bristol in Paris (our all-time favorite). Delightful breakfast served in a restored reception room with 20' ceilings and friendly and helpful staff. The front desk can take care of everything - parking your car, tickets to the museums and boat tours, dinner reservations, you name it. They were pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable. They also understand service: When we arrived, our accommodation was not ready as the prior guest departed later than expected. Linda, who greeted us, apologized and offered us lunch. It was a lovely gesture and one that was appreciated by two travelers who had just driven up from Paris. While there is not restaurant, there is a full room service menu. Spa services are available just a few step away. Go, you will not be disappointed.

The Ambassade has a lot going for it. Location - awesome! Right on a canal, in a very charming area of Amsterdam. Charm - the various canal houses that make up the hotel provide a cozy old word experience. Style - the hotel does a great job of mixing modern with traditional and adds original art on top. Service - very friendly and helpful without being overly effusive. Staying here will only add to your Amsterdam experience in a very positive way.

loved the hotel which evoked the character of the area, perfectly located, lovely rooms (we had one facing the canal), friendly staff. We did not breakfast at the hotel because of the cost. I always prefer to see breakfast included in the rate, otherwise we skip it. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to others.

This is a gorgeous and friendly hotel on the canal and right in the center of many delicious restaurants and great boutique shopping. My husband and I met up with an old friend here and had a wonderful time. The rooms are beautifully appointed and the breakfasts are the one of the best we have ever had.
The staff was attentive and professional.
We will never stay any place else in Amsterdam!

Room Tip: We had the top room on the 4th floor- room 32. we could open our windows and sit with a great view o...
