Very nice hotel, all the rooms are different, very nice decorated. A lot of art on the walls in the hallways. Staff are such good hosts. You can ask then anything and they help you with everything. The library is a must to see. All the writers who stayed in the hotel left a signed book.

Room Tip: Quiet rooms available in the back, so not a canalside room

Right smack in the middle of the city and walking distance from a lot of cool little cafes and restaurants.staff was extremely friendly and helpful. In comparison of to other hotels in Europe, room was big and very clean. Will definitely go back if I ever visit Amsterdam again.

We are 4 women traveling and visited Amsterdam during the historic King's inaguration, and Queen's Day celebrations. Based on a friend's recommendation we stayed at the Ambassade. Our large room overlooked the canal, was beautifully appointed, and we just loved it. And our room was not just a room, it included a hallway, a large bathroom, and a walk-in closet. The bathroom with a large bathtub, and a great shower is worth its own review. The breakfast is not included, and may seem expensive, but it is like going to a champagne brunch every day! The staff is attentive, and I appreciate they knew us, and did not constantly ask for our room numbers before providing services. They booked excursions for us, gave us excellent walking directions for city sights, and advised us on the public transportation systerm. Free wifi, and a computer with printer in the business office allowed us to confirm details for the remainder of our vacation. Thank your Ambassade staff for a wonderful stay.

Thi was my third stay at the Ambassade. Everythig was excellent. The hotel is on a very attractive section of the beautiful Herengrach canal. My room, overlooking the canal was beautifully appointed and designed in a comfortable convenient way. Many restaurants are close to the hotel. Within a couple of blocks, I enjoyed Haesje Claes, Luden for dinner, and Boodje Bart for very reasonable, fresh and tasty breakfasts and lunch.

and overlooking the canal. Our room on the third floor with cathedral ceilings was lovely. Comfortable bed and pillows. Spacious bathroom, double sink, bathtub, shower, heated floors. We could easily walk to everything and felt immersed in the culture and history of this amazing city. Our four days in Amsterdam and the comforts of the Ambasade Hotel made it an amazing experience. We will definitely make a return trip!

Room Tip: Ask for a top floor room!

We stayed 5 night in a room on the top floor, overlooking the canal. The location could not have been better - close to everything but very calm and quiet, away from the buzz of the city. The room was very nice, comfortable, bathroom with two sinks and good water pressure in the shower. Wifi was free and worked well. Staff is friendly and extremely helpful with advice on where to go, how to get there, and suggesting places to dine or have breakfast, in case one preferred to avoid the hotel breakfast room. They made reservations for us for dinners and concerts, as well as tours. A great experience.

Room Tip: If possible, stay in a room overlooking the canal.

What a beautiful hotel !!! We stayed here for 3 nights before taking a river boat cruise, and although a little on the pricier side - it was well worth it. It's in a great location, right on a canal and our room overlooked the canal. The decor is wonderful - and the beds and pillows are so perfect, that I wanted to take them home with me. The breakfast every morning was wonderful and in addition to the cold buffet, they also cook up eggs and bacon to order. The staff could not have been nicer - very friendly, extremely accommodating, warm and polite. They were fantastic. If you're heading to Amsterdam - stay away from the big hotels and settle into the cozy and beautiful boutique hotel. It's Perfect !

Room Tip: Ask for a Superior room overlooking the canal. It may be a bit noisy, but the view is worth it.

Number of rooms: 57
Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Over the years, the Ambassade Hotel has expanded considerably. Starting with just one canal-side building in 1953, it now has 57 hotel rooms distributed among 10 of these buildings. Eight of these canal-side homes are on the "Herengracht" canal, while two others are located on the "Singel" canal. Other buildings are in use by the Ambassade Hotel too, but for other purposes: a few houses further along the Herengracht is the hotel's Float & Massage Centre known as Koan Float and 150 meters further along the Singel canal you will find the hotel's conference room. Except for the building at 335 Herengracht, all the canal-side buildings are physically interconnected. So as not to unnecessarily damage the original character of these canal-side homes, small sets of stairs and landings can be found at various places in the halls and in some of the rooms themselves to bridge the differences in floor elevations between the buildings. Over the years, two lifts have been installed, making all rooms easily accessible. The Ambassade Hotel has a bar and restaurant/brasserie that specializes in the classical French kitchen. The canal houses have been carefully restored to maintain their authentic character and all rooms and suites have been stylishly furnished and decorated. The furnishings are predominantly Louis XV/XVI style with the use of colorful fabrics and in all rooms and public areas you will find original paintings by artists from the famous Cobra movement. ... more   less
