“The View and The Service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2012

We had an agenda when we decided to visit Amsterdam. That was to be located in the most convenient area in the citycentre that would allow us to walk everywhere!!! The location was perfect for this. The hotel is a combined 6 or more original homes on the Herengracht canal and street. I will attach a picture of the view from our room. I loved our room but my husband is over 6 ft tall and the spiral staircase we had to take to reach our living area was hard for him to traverse and he had to watch bumping his head in certain areas in our 2 room suite. If steps are difficult for you….this suite would not be good. Also, if you are handicapped I would definitely speak to the hotel while booking so that they may recommend the easiest room for you. There could be a long walk for some rooms. The hotel is very safe and secure with their access through the main lobby in which the door remains locked. The staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast is elegant and delicious.

We found this hotel through Kirker and it was everything they said it would be. It was richly furnished, centrally located, extremely comfortable and with an excellent choice of food and drink - including champagne - for breakfast. Pity it didn't serve dinner in the evening but room service was available. Concierges helpful and gave good advice on local restaurants. It is in easy reach of all the galleries and museums and we walked to them all. Access to the hotel by taxi was not too difficult and other guests did have taxis summoned. The facilities in the room did not include a minibar nor were there tea making facilities. The paintings in the corridors and dining room as well as the antiques all add to the atmosphere.

Room Tip: Canal facing - either of the two canals are fine.

I visited here in October 2012, on business, just for one night. We wanted something upmarket, but not corporate. We were very happy with the size of the room, the friendliness of the staff and the comfort of the beds. The hotel, especially the bathroom was exceptionally clean and it was a pleasure staying in a hotel that did not have a corporate, but rather a boutique type feel. The breakfast was plentiful and enjoyable and the room next to that was especially smart. The fact that we had our own entrances on the street was great. The access to the pubs and cafes close by was also what we wanted.

The Ambassade is quite well located, close to sights, restaurants, shopping, etc. The staff is helpful and friendly, and speak English quite well. We enjoyed a fabulous massage at their associated Spa, as well.

We were only in Amsterdam for a quick 24 hour layover and this hotel was exactly what we were looking for. Comfortable, cozy, and quaint! We had the attic room with a view of the canal and it was perfect. I am sure there are many other great rooms here, but I would choose the attic room again. The location is fantastic, staff is friendly and helpful, and hotel is beautiful. Wonderful stay!

We stayed at the Ambassade for three nights in early October. The location was perfect-- we walked everywhere. The staff was most helpful and professional. The rooms were lovely, and the bathroom was spectacular. Highly recommend.
