“Excellent option”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2010

This is an excellent option in Amsterdam. Rooms are spacious and clean. Bathrooms are modern and clean. No outside noise even though facing the main road. Stones throw from tram stop and a leisurely 10 minute walk to the centre of amsterdam. Area was safe at all times of day and night. Supermarket nearby. Price of rooms is so cheap when going through accor website, and staff allowed us to check in early. Thoroughly recommended.

If you're looking for a no frills hotel in the center of Amsterdam and have time to book in advance this is not a bad choice. With the Ibis chain you know what you get, a simple and basic room serving your basic needs. Don't expect too much and you won't be disappointed.

I have stayed here several times over the past few years and am satisfied with the price / quality. At the front desk they are generally friendly and helpful and the location is still central, just a short walk from Rembrandtplein / Waterlooplein. I would not advise this hotel to someone who wants to spend a romantic weekend in Amsterdam, but if you just need a decent room to spend the night it is not a bad choice.

We arrived 1000 on New Years Eve and luckily our room was ready. The room had recently been refurbished with wooden flooring and a plush widescreen TV fixed on the wall so it was easy to watch whilst in bed. This hotels location is about 20 minutes walk to Dam Square passing through the Red Light District .
Our breakfast was included, however,if I had to pay 15 Euros I would have felt cheated.
Amsterdam is a wonderful place and despite the 120 Euro a night cost of a room at this hotel you could do a lot worse.
The price of drinks are outrageous bit I guess the Pound against the Euro does not help .Small beer 4 Euros and small glass of wine 3.5 Euros
All in all a good but expensive 3 nights in Amsterdam .

The hotel is in a modern, relatively new building, which is nice. If you see the old, narrow buildings that accommodate most hotels in the city center in Amsterdam, you will agree that it is a blessing that this hotel is a bit off of it.

It is not very far though. It's a 15-20 minutes walk from the hotel to the Dam Square. It is however relatively near (5mins) to the Tram & Metro Station of Waterlooplein. Therefore, the distance from the city center was not a real problem for us.

Our room was not very large but it was just fine. Everything inside it was in *excellent* condition (bathrooom/shower/bed/tv etc). The bed was very comfortable. We asked and were given a room with a view to the canal which was nice and quiet.

Breakfast is not always included in the room price, so check it when you book the room. The breakfast boufet was satisfactory.

Stayed for 5 nights. My husband was at the RAI for a trade show so I was left to my own devices during the day and found the hotel too far from the centre for walking. The room was adequate with its strange pod bathroom with little space to put anything - but I find that in most hotel bathrooms. The extractor fan didn't work all the time we were there despite reporting it and their assurances that it would be fixed. Management offered us a complimentary drink in the bar on our last night to compensate us but we didn't accept. We had a quiet room overlooking the canal where I could watch the swans and ducks. Very restful. We dined twice in the restaurant which was okay. Take your own Kleenex. Take your own pillow (theirs are rock hard). Staff are charming and very helpful when asked.

We were 2 couples and stayed there in the early November. Really small room but I knew that and I was prepared for it. It was clean and nice, I liked the bathroom. It was a little noisy though in the morning because of the chambermaid who was like a whirlwind with the vacuum-cleaner and all other cleaning accessories. We came to the conclusion that the walls are probably thin.
Location: excellent, not in the central center but in a walking distance from everything you would like to see in Amsterdam. The neighborhood seemed to be quite place.
