“Very much like a premiere inn here the uk”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2013

Yes much on the lines of UK premiere inns but a lot more expensive at £129 euros per night breakfast was very average. Definitely needs a tea facility in the room. We were put at the front of the hotel despite requesting a quiet room very noisy traffic. Make sure you book a room at the rear of the hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the rear

We stayed in the Ibis Stopera for a combined meeting and couples weekend in Amsterdam and were quite disappointed. The hotel is very basic and was not enjoyable place to return to after a day of fun in Amsterdam.

The location is not ideal - there are plenty of better options in multiple locations that beat this hands down.

The room was tiny and we found it challenging for 2 people - perhaps only 1 person would have faired better.

There was only a tiny open "closet" - we had to leave our suitcases on the floor opened as there was no place to put the rest of our clothes.

The bathroom was a disaster - felt like a cruise ship or boat, tiny and uncomfortable. Also had the telltale sign combination soap/shampoo/everything wash in the bottle - never good!

Had terrible coffee!!!

Extremely noisy every morning.

I had a simple request (I thought) to get an extra pillow that was denied as they "had no extra pillows" - really? in the whole hotel?

Finally, this was not close to the convention center, so really no benefit from the meeting standpoint.

In short - there are better options no matter what your trip entails.

I am sorry to read hat you were disappointed with your stay. I treat all feedback with the utmost seriousness and it is obvious that you are not familiar with the IBIS product in Europe. As we are 100% compliant to IBIS brand I can only advice you to book one of our brands such as Novotel, Mercure or Sofitel during one of your next visits. You can find a complete overview of our hotels on www.accorhotels.com. Kind regards, Peter Holierook.

we stayed here for 4 nights in sept 2013.
first , amsterdam is a very expensive city. and if it is about location, then this is a great hotel, but, it really felt like a college dorm room. we walked from the train station, -about 20 min. at check in i asked if there was a kettle in the room, i thought i remembered something about reading they now have them. no kettle, but if you get the "premium "room with the canal view for 20 euros more a night you can have the kettle. well, we had just opted out of the 16 euro EACH for breakfast, so we thought we can get the kettle room and eat breakfast in the room, ( although there is no fridge).
the view was very nice, and the kettle plug did not always stay in, i had to hold it in sometimes.
there is a grocery store about a 4 min walk, and so we got our breakfast food from there, and had coffee and tea in the room,. wifi is included, so that was good. and the tv had some english channels.
the room and bathroom really felt like a cruise ship to me. small and plastic.
but the location was really good. we walked everywhere from there. ann frank house-30 min, dam square -15 min. felt safe at night, the staff was very nice. my husband would stay there again, i am not so sure.

Thank you for sharing your experiences during your visit to IBIS Amsterdam City Stopera. It is pleasant to read that you have loved your stay in Amsterdam. The remarks that you have made makes it possible to improve our services provided in the hotel. The remark about our premium package and the breakfast have given us "food for thought" and will definitely help us in improving our product offer. Kind regards, Peter Holierook.

We stayed here for 3 nights room only-the room was clean and comfortable but we paid 5 star price for a 3 star hotel as we booked late.
Breakfast at 16 euros pp was just too much, we went to a café ( turn left when leaving the hotel, café is at the end of the block) and ate well for half the price.
Location was good, central for most things-would stay again but only if we could get a better rate

Thanks for your review. I’m glad you have a good stay with us. Concerning your remark about the price of the room and breakfast I do realize that Amsterdam is an expensive city. As IBIS we do our best to set a realistic price and over several different options including a promotional rate including breakfast. Please have a look at www.IBIS.com for your next stay and best possible rates. Kind regards, Peter Holierook

This is a well-situated hotel which has all that I now seem to want in a hotel - clean, comfortable, in good condition, efficient and free wifi - nothing glitzy, just quiet efficiency, well done. It is a short walk from the metro service which is excellent, cost-effective and easy to use. It is also a near a busy street with a supermarket, cafés, bars etc. it is a slightly longer walk away from the Central Station etc.
Given the choice I would happily stay here again and I would also choose it above some of the other, higher-profile hotels.

Hotel was a gentle 10 minute walk from Central Station and easy to find being on a main road and I felt safe in the area at all times. I had no problems with noise but I did have a room at the back away from the road.

Check in was quick , efficient and courteous even though I arrived slightly early there was a room available. Public areas were clean and well maintained. To access lift or stairs you needed your room key card.

As is standard in every Ibis I have stayed in the room was clean and reasonably equipped but slightly on the small side but there was space for your suitcase, hanging clothes and shelving. My room had a kettle and tea/coffee, my one issue there was paper cups and cheap ones at that, you had to leave them to cool down before you could use them. TV had a range of channels in different languages. Decent amount of lights and the switches were well located. Bed linen was Ok clean and in decent condition. The 'sweet bed' though just seems to be a memory foam topper and on one of the twin beds something had gone wrong and it sloped badly, causing me to fall out.

Bathroom was in Ibis's pod, reasonable amount of space in the shower, decent pressure and temperature. A hairdryer was located next to the sink. They provided a combined shower gel, shampoo and liquid soap. I did feel as though they could have improved the towels as they were thin and rough.

I made use of the free Wi-Fi and had no problems with speed or connection.

Overall a decent stay at (for Amsterdam Centre) a reasonable cost, but there were areas for improvement

This is my third stay at this particular Ibis for an annual trade show in Amsterdam. The location is good, being 10 minutes walk from Rembrandsplein and 5 minutes from the metro (which gets you into Central Station or to the Rai faster that the trams, and much cheaper than a taxi.

This time, I had a room at the back overlooking the canal, rather than on the front overlooking the street. This is a much nicer outlook. Suggest if you are booking, you request this.

Breakfast is good for a hotel of this class. Self service buffet with reasonable choice.

Price was higher as the rooms had been block booked, therefore value for money was not as good. If you can get a deal through the internet and accept the hotel for what it is, you will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: Overlooking the canal rather than the street
