“Get the best out of Ibis Amsterdam”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2013

How ?
1- It has a good location just near the central railways station, is clean and convenient to visit the town + A staff dedicated and a management which is caring.
2 - Ask for a room in the Tulip building and on the 4 or 5 th floor with view on the Harbour. The rooms are better than in the old building "Wind mill". We first tried a room in the Wind mill building and beside there was no view, the climatic was not working and we had 2 separate beds when we first ask for a king size bed. In the new building (tulip), the room was nice.
3 - Check if the hotel management is going either to improve the breakfast or either would bring down the price (16 euros per person...and no real orange juice)...Or both ! and ckeck out that a breakfast reserved on a date is really to be used the next morning !
4 - As for the bar : check if the hotel management will improve the bar and will provide its customers with the basic coktails - Mojito, Americano...-
The Ibis Amsterdam is of good value, except for the breakfast as for now and as noticed by numerous visitors...I noticed that the management is caring for its client satisfaction so I do expect improvements.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the Tulip building on the 4 or 5 th floors

Straight out of Central Station and turn left, there is the IBIS!
Great hotel, friendly staff and an excellent breakfast too. Stayed on floor 9 overlooking the water (just ignore the train tracks in between) and surprisingly little noise from the trains.
Room size fine, bed comfy and free wifi.
A little disappointed in the restaurant for dinner as this doubles as the bar and choice is limited. Plenty of places nearby though.
Excellent location for trams, canal boats and of course trains.
Would definitely stay here again.

We've stayed here twice. On the plus side, it is very convenient, being literally on top of railway station Amsterdam Centraal. The staff are very nice; friendly, professional and efficient.

The first time was a decent room on the train track side (back) of the hotel which was a good sized room. This time (April 2013), we asked for a room at the front, looking over the city. The room was a really tiny twin room, small for one let alone two people. It was also quite hot, but opening the window meant a lot of traffic noise (they like using horns in Amsterdam). The price wasn't cheap (€260 for two nights) so I expected better.

Breakfast isn't really worth it unless you are in a rush; you're better going around the corner to Brouwersgracht and finding one of the nice cafe's along the canal, several are along the south side of the canal. On balance, I would stay here again, but would probably look around elsewhere first.

Room Tip: If I was to stay again, we'd use the back (North) of the hotel away from traffic noise.

Excellent location, close to everything. Large chain hotel, that lived up to their standards. Very clean, smallish but functional rooms. Nice shower. Some rooms had views over the harbour. A small amount of noise from the railway station does enter the rooms.

Room Tip: Harbour view rooms always have activity to view. Would gladly stay here again.

Had a fantastic weekend in Amsterdam at the Ibis hotel right next to the railway station
The hotel is spotless the beds are the best I have slept on, staff were commendable on how well they look after their guests
I will definitely visit Holland again and will go for more than a weekend break
I must mention a small Italian restaurant "RISTORANTE ORVIETO PIZZERIA " the food is great and the owners are mad as hatters they genuinely love their customers we had 3 meals there and the bill was spot on every time, unlike a couple of bars that tried to take advantage of us when we had a bit too much to drink

We spent two nights here when me and a group of friends were seeing Swedish House Mafia. The cost of the hotel was very cheap for where it was located!
The room was very clean and spacious and the bathroom was nice too however the bathroom in my room (2 sleeper) was very small yet in our friends room (3 sleeper) the bathroom was a lot bigger.
Breakfast in the morning was delicious and was a vast choice of cold and hot food.
As ive mentioned the location is bang in the middle right next to the train station and all of the shops. Beautiful city and would defiantly return to this hotel if i was to return with friends or family!
they also have a locker room for your suitcases if your not getting picked up to return to the port after check out and it is kept locked.
