“Fantastic place to stay in Amsterdam”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2014 via mobile

I stayed for 3 days and it was very nice experience. The owner was away but the other staff was very helpful and check in was smooth. The place is centrally located and the tram as well as bus connections are just 1 minute away. There is a super market close by where al the necessary things can be purchased. The museums are at walking distance from this place. The apartment is decently sized and is in quiet area. All electronic equipment are provided hence nothing more is needed. There are some very good cafés and restaurants around this place catering to various cuisines so food is never a problem. I will surely recommend this place for families.

We had a wonderful stay, which began with the warm welcome that Norman, the owner gave us upon our arrival. Our suite, up a flight of stairs, was roomy and beautifully decorated, with a large "great room", including a large kitchen table and a well equipped kitchen. The bedroom was large and the queen size bed was wonderfully soft and comforting. A special touch: the bath towels were composed as a pair of swans on the bed and we enjoyed the welcoming bottle of Proseco which helped us recover from our train ride. Definitely recommended and we will be sure to book again on our next trip to Amsterdam.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the courtyard would be quieter, but our streetside room was not noisy at all.

Green Features: This establishment is very green; in fact they even have "eco-WiFi" which limits radio waves and power usage.

If you are looking for a comfortable and quiet apartment in Amsterdam, don't look any further! And if you also like to go to museums or concerts, you h a v e to book one of the Heemskerk Suites! They are situated just around the corner of Museumplein, where you can find the Stedelijk Museum, the Van Gogh Museum and the Rijksmuseum. And they are in the same building complex as the infamous Concertgebouw. By the way, Norman, the owner, and his assistant Kimo are the nicest people you can imagine!

We were a bit surprised here because we thought this was a hotel when we booked on trip advisor but it turns out to be a private set of apartments. This was both good and bad. The place, considering we knew that the people next door were here to party, was very quiet. The apartment was huge! Wifi was included and there was a laundry facility which was great if you were going across europe and had been planning on doing laundry anyway, as this was free. Because one person runs the place there is considerable less flexibility for checking in and out then at a regular hotel, although they were kind enough to keep our bags later, they were just in the downstairs common entryway, so not really secure. The owner was very friendly and gave us some great recommendations for around amsterdam. We were charged an extra fee for cleaning and there were a lot of rules. If you are looking for a hotel experience this is not it, but if you like a personal, homey touch this place would be perfect. Location is good but a bit removed from downtown, very close to transit.

Room Tip: Fire room was very large with a kitchen.

Green Features: most of the practices were good but there were a lot of wifi restrictions based on speculation, not evidence of harm.

Dear Nadya
thank you so much for your nice review. We are happy you had a good stay.
We just want to explain to the other travellers few remarks you had.
First, if you know Amsterdam, we are located right in the museum area and definitely this is part of the centre. We know that tourist think the centre of Amsterdam is only coffeeshops and red lights but we have also the cultural centre of the town and this is where we are :-)
Any person who read before to book can see we are apartments, definitely is not a surprise ( if we were a hotel we could not give such a space with the price of a small double room).
Is also clear we are very ECOLOGIC and we offer a different space to people who care about the health, that is why we offer the Eco WIFI (all Amsterdam offers the standard one so we exist for people with a more conscoius thought about the planet and the their health).
Our rules are many and strict but thanks to them we can GUARANTEE a place where we care about the guest tranquility offering a safe place where to relax.
We hope to see you again!
Thanks
Norman and Sonia

The apartment itself is nice (specially for Amsterdam) and included most of what you would need. We where greated by a nice chap called Kimo. He took time to give us some recomendations of the area and made us feel welcome.

On the down side the suites have steep stairs with no elevator. We where also suprised with a 50€ service charge equal to 30% of what we paid in total. This would feel more appropriate if we stayed here for several days. Wifi is for some reason turned off at 01.00 am

Thank you for you nice review.
Sorry to hear you you have some issues.
Our building is from 1925 and an art deco historical building. We cannot change the stairs .
The 50,00 Euro service fee is per day or per week, you stay one night .
We ask this so we can guaranty that a suite from 60m2 is 100% clean. It is 3 hours job.
We have a ECO WIFI, 90% less radiation and at night you sleep and you don't want to have radiation. We have also 120MB cable internet and a internet TV 24/7 . More we cannot give

This place is truly an amazing hotel. The space is incredibly well-designed but practical at the same time. There is so much space!!!! And what a price, specially for Europe. And the location?! OMG, do not get me started on the location: a 4-minute walk to the Van Gogh Museum! And the owner? I loved him. What a great sweet kind helpful interesting character he was! When I go back to Amsterdam, I will most definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Fire room. It looks over the street and thus slightly noisy, but nothing out of the...

Green Features: I liked the concept of a gree wi-fi that goes off between 1 and 7 am. It is better for human health!

Thank you for your review.
I love people like you to think about heathy living.
WIFI is the same radiation from a microwave, and you know what happen with the food.
We received the Green Leaders Platinum award with all our healthy issues and hope people will do the same home.
