“Great location but dated rooms”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

I just got back from a 2 night break. This hotel is a perfect location - walking distance from everything. The central station is about a 25 min walk - I suggest you do this as it is only 3 stops to the airport and 5 euro each as appose to 48 euro in a taxi! The hotel itself is lovely, very nice staff and bar area. The breakfast was OK but not a lot of choice in the hot section. The rooms are very small unless you book a deluxe room. We had a standard and you could only fit one person in the bathroom at a time! There were stains on the carpet and bath which wasn't nice. I would stay here if you are looking for a weekend break and wont spend much time in the room.

I read most of the Reviews on this site, I hope people take time to read this review & my experience of the Hotel. We stayed here on the 22nd to the 26th of April with bed and breakfast. We got lost trying to find the Hotel but read my tips below & this will help you find it. We Arrived at the hotel & checked in by the lovely staff. We where in room 326 EXECUTIVE ROOM ( think we had been upgrade) it over looks the Canal & had a lovely view. Room had coffee & tea facilities, flat screen tv ( didnt switch it on as we are on holiday & you can watch tv back home) & safe in the room. Lovely Bathroom with bath & shower & Hair dryer. And shower gel, shampoo, soap,& Body Lotion to use. Bed was lovely & comfortable & had a great nights sleep. Spare blankets & cushions in the Wardrobe. Or Ring down the front desk & ask for some & there happy to help if you run out of stuff in your room. You must put your hotel card in the slot by the door to Operate the lights & tv. Rooms are cleaned Daily & Bedding done Daily. If you want clean towels just drop them on the floor in the bathroom that way the maid knows you what fresh towels. Room was very Spacious & room to put our clothes, could have done with some drawers but we coped. Now down to Breakfast had it included in my package with hotels.com but they was a mess up with hotels.com & we ended up having to pay 18.50 as we needed breakfast And found out if you go to the desk & ask for breakfast you can get it for 15.00 Euros a day so ask at the desk for Breakfast for 15 euros. Have since had my money refund from hotels.com This was nothing to do with the hotel but they where very kind sorting it out. Everyone was helping them selves to , fry up, fruit & have tea or coffee & fruit Jucies & cereals, bagels, yogurts, bread for toast ,Muffins and Lovely Danishes. The concierge helped us find places & what transport to take & the best deals to get & gave us a map! And was really helpful.
We flew into schiphol airport , then caught a train from schiphol Station get cheaper tickets here Platform 3 into centraal station amsterdam. Came outside to the Trams and get on Number 9 and buy a ticket for 2.euros 50 to rembrandt square (look out for the Rembrandt Statue then get off) you get off by a row of restaurants and theres a big tv screen with Samung on it. Stay on the side you got off the tram. Now you need to start walking straight up Amstelstraat road passed the 3 sisters pub walk up for another 3 minutes till you come to vivelavie then turn left into the Alley road walk straight through to the end when you come out turn right then walk 3 minute up the road to the Hotel. Or you can carry on up Amstelstraat road until you come to the Hampshire Hotel and you can cut through here into the Eden Hotel as its sister hotel. We walked right up the Amstelstraat and over the bridge and got really lost, where before you walk up the Amstelstraat to the top you need to do a sharp left and round to the hotel which is the long way. Also remember the Hotel card operates the Lift so no-one off the streets can get in which we though was brilliant and we felt safe. We used there bar and i asked for a Hot chocolate it came with cream and marshmellows and it heaven. Thankyou for a Wonderful stay and Highly recommend your Hotel.

Room Tip: Room 326 Was a quiet room lovely view and tea and coffee machine, only noise was when selfish people...

The hotel is on a cobblestone street on one side of a beautiful and busy canal in one of the most vibrant cities my husband Snook and I have been to. It is right across the canal from the Amstel Brewery and restaurant which is only a couple minutes away by walking bridge.. The room we had was spacious but rather dark since it didn't overlook the canal like many did, but was comfortable and clean. There was a busy, bright lobby with many seating arrangements for travelers to interact. The very best feature was the big, huggable concierge who happily arranged just about anything you might want or need. He is a big gentle giant of a guy who speaks a myriad of languages and is ready to help with carrying bags, arranging tickets and transportation, or helping us inept Americans figure out the Euro and change. He arranged transportation to Ijmuiden to meet our cruise ship - about an hour away - in a smooth BMW cab with cool jazz playing driven by a relative of some kind who gave us a very good price for the ride. We recommend a stay here for the price conscious traveler.

We had a heck of a time finding this hotel, but once we did, it was great. The location is right near the Rembrandt Square and the varied nightlife. We walked everywhere. The breakfast was great, and included. Try Trivago for a great deal on this very expensive hotel. Rooms were very nice, though not much of a view.

Room Tip: Use Trivago to get a good price

I stayed at the Eden hotel in May 2014 for 2 nights. We arrived at 9am after travelling all night, it was obviously too early to check in but were allowed to get washed up and changed and store our luggage.

Luckily the hotel is very well situated, so my friend and I walked around, grabbed lunch before checking in. We had emailed the hotel a couple of weeks before as my friend and I we're celebrating our 40th Birthdays. The hotel kindly upgraded our room, it was lovely, a little small yes. But the views certainly made up for it. And we we're barely there. The bathroom was great, perfect for our needs and the beds very comfortable. Plenty of wardrobe space and tea, coffee and hot chocolate, kettle etc in our room.

Ive already mentioned how welcoming the staff we're, the kept giving us drinks vouchers for the hotel bar. And we found them in our room whenever the cleaners had been in too. A very nice touch. The Concierge was extremely helpful pointing usIin the direction of places we wanted to see.

We took a canal trip from over the road and Remnbrandt Sq was just behind the hotel. A short walk to the red light district etc.

friend to celebrate our 40th.

The location of the hotel is great, plenty of shops and restaurants around and 15 minutes walk to the damn. Rooms are ok, some rooms are small and some are big enough. The main problem was the sewage smell. You can smell sewage the second you step in the hotel and it gets terribly intolerable once you get to the rooms hallways. We had to spend a full night in one of the rooms which smelled really bad (same thing happened to our friends, same night, different room). They couldnt move us to another room as the hotel was full! We got a discount of 100eur for a room that had cost us 300eur. I dont recommend to stay there at all.. its a gamble if ur room will smell or not!

Dear FaresSay,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. I am sorry to read we did not meet your expectations and you experienced a unpleasant smell in your room. Unfortunately during your stay we experienced some issues with the sewage which came to us as a surprise as well. For now these issues have been solved. We do hope that this experience will not deter you from visiting us in the future, so we can show you we can meet your expectations for a 3-star hotel like Eden Hotel Amsterdam – Hampshire Eden.

Me and my brother entered and at the reception we go the new that we have been upgraded from standard to room to executive., its was perfect welcome for us as it was all first time in europe and amsterdam., room was quiet big and luxurious than i was expecting, loaded with basic refreshments and toiletries., and of course wifi which was life savior as we dint get local sim cards right away. beds were very cozy n i loved them., breakfast buffet in the morning was good tough we being vegetarian was happy with the menu., and to be honest its location is very convenient for any activity you want do ., we almost ended up walking to all attraction and shopping areas by walk., and there many good restaurants nearby plus as its facing canal., there is stop for boats for canal tours. FYI as in non smoking hotel i enjoyed it the most., my brother is a smoker so he had to step out every time for a smoke. I loved it so much that we have already decide for next trip we would come back.
