“Good location but that's all”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2013

Dirty flooring and bathroom, average breakfast.
The receptionist is not happy. I was said the credit card is for guarantee only but she actually charged me 50 euros for incidentals at check in that are still not recovered to my credit card.

Stayed 5 nights in late September and I enjoyed my stay. They have free luggage service, so when I arrived early in the morning, I just leave my luggage with them and when out to explore Amsterdam. Very convenient location, only like 10 mins walk from the Dam Square and there is a tram stop like 1 minutes away. Super nice location in Rembrandt Square: lots of restaurant, cafe, "coffee shop", bars/pubs, 3 casino within 5 minutes walk.

PRO:
-location (close to tram, flower market, Rembrandt Square, canal tours)
-friendly staff (very informative and smile all the time)
-free fast internet/wifi (stayed on the 3rd floor)
-good lighting in the room, bed is comfortable

CON:
- Smallest bathroom ever (if you are using the toilet, your knee will almost touch the wall *and i am a small person*)
- housekeeping (seems like they only straighten the pillow and fold the bed sheet, they don't really change it- doesn't really bother me too much, I am pretty clean myself)
- room is a little cramped (I traveled alone, I don't know how will that room fit two people)

We booked this hotel for one night , as we wanted a location near Spui , and Thorbeckenplein
It's a normal city hotel , nothing bad , but nothing outstanding . I will say that the bed was very comfortable , and that the staff were attentive and professional. The location suited us , so we were very content

Stayed several nights in early October and was very pleased. Room was clean and bed was very comfortably. Location was exceptional with easy access to all of the city. All the staff were very friendly and exceptionally helpful on directions, traveler's tips, and everything. This was the first hotel on our Europe trip and was one of the best out of all of them...would definitely stay again. Thank you Eden Hotel for a wonderful stay.

Room Tip: Spend the extra money and get a river view room

Canal side hotel seemed to offer much but failed to deliver. Good location, particularly for trams and canal trips. Pleasant, helpful staff but this hotel requires refurbishment and a bit more daily care when it comes to housekeeping. Our room was cramped and dark. The bathroom was tiny and the shower failed to drain properly so the floor was sopping wet. The only toiletries provided are soap fixed to the wall. On the whole this was a disappointing stay in a great city.

Room Tip: Book a superior room

I went there for my honeymoon with my wife. it ruined our vacation!
well, when you first walk in, the hotel lobby & reception area looks very nice!
makes you wanna see the rooms. but you'll get disappointed. very disappointed!
there is only one small elevator for all the 5 floors. so you'll have to wait for it, sometimes more than it should...
when we reached the fifth floor, which had our room in (have'nt been to other floors, but i assume it would be alike...), it was a maze, and not an easy one... (more than once, other guests knocked on our room door by mistake. not so funny when they wake you up at 2 AM, but i guess it was understanable, considering they were stoned and tired - it is amsterdam after all...)
regarding the room itself, it was tiny, with a tiny shower-toilet room, which you could'nt move in, and i'm not that big...
the toilet door is a glass dor, which does not hide anything. not sights, nor smells...
we're married and all, but there are some smells & noises you would'nt want to smell / hear...
the walls were moldy and patched with tapets that has been torn.
some lightbulbs were burned, no one replaced them for the whole week we were there.
the soap dispencer was broken.
the shower was dirty and moldy.
water pressure & temperature was not stable - i guess the same pipes are being shared by several rooms. so when somebody else flushes - you will notice it while you shower.
there was no mini-bar.
only one window with no view.
air condition was noisy.
on our last day, room service dude bang at our room door to wake us 3:30 hours before checkout time. (luckily, we were already up, or i would have been very mad!)
and the complaint list goes on and on...
the only good things about this hotel are the location, entrance, lobby, and i guess the staff was nice.

to sum it up: don't go!
search for other, better hotels.

Location was superb, its all happening around the Rembrandt park square which is 2 minutes walking. The area is so alive, full of cafes, restaurants, clubs and tourism centers. Dam Square is 10 minutes walking, 15 minutes for the Red Light district and 25 minutes for the central station.
You can take the tram from the same place to anywhere in the city (2.4 euros for hourly access and 7.5 euros for full day).
The room was spacious, clean and free wifi was available everywhere in hotel including rooms.
The reception was so professional and nice.
There is nothing bad to say about it... it all good and highly recommended.
