“Cute modern find”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2013

Cute little hotel, modern and chic. Good for money, with great location not too busy and loud, just a small walk to the main city centre. Free wifi which is great! Large variety for breakfast was delicious and fresh.

Room Tip: Take a room looking over the street, it gets most light and it nice to have windows and a view.

great location - rooms were clean and a good size for 3 girls to share. Please with the breakfast, just right for the price paid. Location just far enough from red light district to be enjoyed but not be effected by. recommend for any weekend trip

Pleasant clean hotel in a great location. Ten minutes walk from the main train station in Amsterdam. From the hotel easily accessible to all the attractions of Amsterdam. The rooms are clean and pleasant. The hotel staff friendly and helpful. My recommendation.

This hotel was old. This hotel was a bit run down. This hotel was a pleasure to occupy. It was several things before and it was kind of put together, but what in Amsterdam's old buildings wasn't? The room we had was right in the middle of the "courtyard" and was spacious, quiet and clean. The bathroom was kind of state-of-the-art while the room was "classic." The downside is while they do offer free breakfast the room is VERY loud and the food is only slightly more than basic. We could hear every conversation that anyone else was having and it was mostly just bread to run through a toaster. However, the location and friendliness of the staff made up for the breakfast room. We could walk out and have access to the entire city, while staying in a quieter area. Great access to restaurants, shops and museums. Worth staying.

Very good and convenient hotel. The rooms were clean and spacious. The bathrooms were very clean and great service with helpful staff. Shopping and dam square is very close. Transport is not atall an issue. Trams are just opposite the hotel and there is a big 'Albert Heine' supermarket which is few feet away. It's not at all on the busy street but at the same time it is close to eateries, sight seeing and shopping. Worth the value for money.

We looked at several hotels in this price range before settling on the Nova, and having now seen the others I think we made the best choice, location-wise. It's down a fairly pleasant street just off Dam Square so most attractions are within easy walking distance. The hotel itself is clean and fairly basic, but quite sufficient for a short break. There's no lounge, just a few comfy sofas in the entrance lobby. Breakfast is self-service in the basement - plenty of choice but mainly cold food, frequently topped-up. There's a room to store your luggage if needed. Security is very good - reception is staffed 24/7 - you have to be "buzzed in" through the front door, and then you're handed your room key on production of your card. The staff were very helpful and professional. We'd asked for a quiet room and were pleased to be allocated no. 403, on the 3rd floor and right at the back of the hotel so away from the road noise (trams do run past the front of the hotel, not sure what time they stop). We had no view as we looked down onto an inner courtyard, but personally we prefer a quiet room without a view than a noisy room with one! The room was quite spacious & well-furnished, with plenty of lamps, and the safe was concealed in the wardrobe. The bathroom was an adequate size and towels changed regularly. Would certainly stay here again if we go back to Amsterdam.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back if you want to avoid noise from trams.
