“Excellent location near all attractions. No breakfast for complimentary upgrades to Business Class rooms !!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2014

Radisson Blu Hotel, Amsterdam is located in the heart of Amsterdam, only about 15 minutes walk from Amsterdam Centraal Station and about 5 minutes walk from the "infamous" (Red Light District) from De Wallen neighbourhood. It is also within close walking distance from other tourist attractions of Amsterdam, namely Dam Square (650 m), Bloemenmarket (650 m), Anne Frank House (1.4 km), Jordaan neighbourhood (1.7 km), Rijkmuseum (1.5 km). A free night at this property costs 50,000 Club Carlson points. In my opinion, it is an excellent redemption option for Club Carlson points in Europe.

Check-in was quick. We got upgraded to Business Class room which is eligible for free breakfast but this hotel explicitly forbids free breakfast if its a complimentary upgrade. Bummer !!

There are rooms on both side of the street and to get to the other side of the street, you go underground level and cross the street and use the elevator on the other side to get to the rooms.

The room was very modern with elegant furnishings. The bed very comfortable and the pillows and comforters very plush. The shower area is pretty large compared to the other hotels in Europe we stayed in. Water pressure really good and toiletry supplies were adequate.

The “Business Center” consisted of just 2 computers and a printer which was right next to the front lobby.

Thumbs up:

* Location, Location, Location !! In the heart of Amsterdam, within walking distance to plenty of sightseeing attractions like Dam Square, Anne Frank House, Jordaan, Rijkmuseum and the Red Light District.
* Lots of dining options within close walking distance.
* Well maintained property. Rooms are clean, elegantly furnished, very well maintained.

Thumbs down:

* Breakfast complimentary only if you pay for the Business class rooms and not if complimentary upgrades.

Room Tip: The hotel is on a quiet street and most likely will not have spectacular views. Try to ask for a can...

Positives first... A really fantastic location, just far enough away to be quiet, but five minute walk and you are in the heart of things! And, own parking facilities was really helpful...

But.... On arrival at official check-in time, we are told our room is not available as previous occupants made a mess. We are given comp at the bar and told to wait. No update for one hour! So I ask again, no news... Then we are told they can give us a temporary room, but only for 15 minutes as then our room will be ready??? We wait, and get our room 90 minutes late, leaving no time to do the main activity we had planned for the afternoon...

But... We shower and go out for the evening, but come back to the room and no turn down, no towel change, no room refresh, I paid 300 Euro for one night, for this?

But... The towel curtain was dirty... And anyway, a towel curtain, in a top four star???

But... At breakfast, the four of us are shown to two separate tables for two, and left to our own devices to pull everything together to make a table for four...

If they want four stars, they need to live four stars... This was poor value and disappointing and they need to work much harder.

I stayed 1 night here, just stopping over on a long haul flight.
I booked via hotwire so paid less than standard rate but still expensive by my standards for what you get.
Room nice, clean, and quiet. Staff polite. Location good.
If i was in town again i would get one of the smaller boutique hotels with more character. For me this is just an overpriced, business hotel.

I only stayed here for one night. I had a positive experience. The hotel has a nice look and layout. The staff was polite and helpful. I just checked in, walked around the city, slept and then checked out early.

The garage is under ground with very limited space and a tight squeeze.

Room Tip: I stayed in room 412. The room was very nice. I liked the design. It had plenty of space and ever...

The Radisson Blu was an excellent choice for our recent visit to Amsterdam. The hotel provided a "Stay 4 nights for 3" deal but by any measure the value exceeded most other hotels of the higher standard caliber in Amsterdam. It is in a very central and quiet location, the whole experience was very comfortable and relaxed. Stayed in the very cozy loft suite which used to be the attic of an actual home around which the hotel was built. The room and the hotel provided a great sanctuary after a long day of walking around. The real highlight however was the very quaint lobby bar which we enjoyed each evening. Also part of the original house, this bar was beautiful and was one of the most relaxing bars we have ever encountered. All the staff were very friendly. Will stay here again.

Travelling for the first time with our son to Amsterdam we chose the Mezzanine Suite for our stay because it looked cool and had a PS3 for our games-mad 8 year old. The room surpassed all expectations - loads of space, exceptionally clean, light and airy. The free mini-bar (replenished daily) and extensive breakfast were welcome additions to an already ace experience. The hotels service and location were just brilliant. We will definitely return.

Great location: the heart of old city Amsterdam, but peaceful and quite area.
Spacious room, very reasonable price. Powerful air-conditioner.
The only complaint: the breakfast is not included in the room price and pretty expensive: 26.5 Eu.
