A great spot, away from the crowd but close enough to walk to / from.
Staff friendly, room very clean, dinner in the restaurant was excellent, bar had a lovely ambience.
Perhaps all reflective in the price that you pay to stay!
Only gripe was our room was on the second floor facing into the atrium reception, after a night out in Amsterdam I didn`t appreciate being woken by a group sitting in this area chatting extremely loudly at a little after 5am!! The noise really does carry so perhaps would recommend you request a room NOT overlooking the atrium reception if you fancy a lie in!

I visited the Radisson SAS on my own to attend a course in September.

Having not been to Amsterdam before, I didnt know what to expect, but the hotel is located really centrally and the main tourist areas are just around the corner.

The hotels rates in my opinion are expensive for the quality of the hotel - it is perfectly pleasant but nothing special - I suppose it is the location that you pay for.

The hotel is oddly split accross both sides of the street, so if you are staying in the side opposite to the main section, then you do have to go up and down in order to go under the street and then back up in the lift to the rooms.

The rooms were pleasant and I was pleased to see travelling on my own that you could get BBC1 etc on the television.

I had breakfast and lunch in the main restaurant and it was very pleasant..

The hotel has a small gym, which was pretty well equipped and well kept for a hotel gym, there were 3 cardio machines, free weights and about 5 weight machines - and unusually for hotels with small gyms it was all in good working order.

I am thinking of going back to Amsterdam for a leisure trip, the only thing that would put me off about this hotel is the price in comparison for what you get -it was 239 euros a night for a single room.

We stayed 2 days at the SAS Radisson in Holland in mid August of 2008 and it was very nice. Clean, well appointed and terrific location. Not in the typical hotel every 5 feet area. Close to restaurants, shopping, Red Light District, etc. Very easy to get lost there, so take a map.

The staff were very helpful, check in was a breeze. We had a superior room, but don't expect it to be big - it's small by North American standards. I wonder what the standard room looked like. It had a small TV ( but seriously, folks, there was 1 channel with English with reruns of Law and Order). Everything was very clean but the decor was pretty standard. It did feature a cool module that held the TV (not flatscreen if you care), minibar, wine glasses, and an iron and ironing board. The bed was quite comfortable.

We had an interior room, which meant that our window opened up into the lobby of the hotel. That meant no fresh air. Ewww. Also, if you want to "talk loudly", you might want to rethink that and close the window unless you want the staff to hear you.

Did not eat at the restaurant, so I have no idea about that. Nor did we have room service. Would I stay there again? Not in that room, but across the street there were other rooms that I didn't even realize was part of the hotel. I would hesitate to spend tons of money just for a room that you don't spend much time in anyway.

Radisson SAS enjoys a great location, within easy walking distance of the Central Train Station and the famous Red Light District. It is also 5 minutes stroll from the nearest tram stop which is very convenient to see the main touristic attractions.

The hotel, although spotlessly clean and pleasantly decorated, had a somewhat old-fashioned air, especially the bathrooms. The supposedly queen bed turned out to be two single beds attached. Apart from those, the rooms (we stayed in a de-luxe) were spacious enough and had all necessary amenities.

As with most of the hotels on offer in Amsterdam, the breakfast was not included in the room rate and was a little expensive at 24.5E. Nevertheless it was of a high quality with a good variety of hot and cold choices on offer. One minor irritation occured when we returned to our table to find our half-eaten food and half-drunk coffee had been cleared away in the very short time we were away to fetch our second courses. A little absent-mindedness of the staff but that was recovered quickly.

We stayed at this Hotel from the 27th August to the 31st. The Hotel is top class. The rooms were ample sized with high ceilings. The room had free wireless connection which would have been great had I taken my laptop. The bed was incredibly comfy and the linen was crisp and fresh. There was a mini bar in the room but we found the prices a litte pricey. Watch taking anything out of the mini bar as you won't get it back in and you will automatically be charged. Overall we had a fab time and would definately recommend this Hotel.
