Have just returned from a 2 night stay at the Banks Mansion and we were not disappointed. Our room was fairly small (if staying in a canal view room avoid 101/201 etc) but beautifully furnished as were all the other areas of the hotel (with the exception of the garish carpets outside the rooms mentioned in other reviews! ) The free drink and snacks is a wonderful idea and there was plenty available - and good stuff too. Lovely to come back to after a day sightseeing or to sit in the lounge for a cognac before going out. The staff couldn't have been more obliging or friendly and the breakfast was delicious. The hotel is really well placed for sightseeing - accessible by trams 16, 24 or 25 from central but also within walking distance if you miss the last one at midnight.
One slight negative is the shower which doesn't seal very well and leads to a very wet floor if you are not careful - but that's a minor moan from an otherwise perfect stay.
We thoroughly recommend this hotel and would stay here if ever visiting Amsterdam in the future.

I stayed in this hotel in January, there were 7 of us on the trip.
The location was super and so was the hotel, I had a room overlooking the canal which was good, one had a room with windows very high so no view BUT they had a sauna in their bathroom,. The reception staff were very helpful to us and the FREE snacks and drinks were great, especially when you had been out walking all day. The rooms are small, the beds are comfy and the bathrooms great, The choice of pillows was great as I have a bad back and need good support. The only downside was the air con, a bit noisy, but switch it off and open a window instead.
We ALL had a great time and the Hotel was GREAT. Would DEFINITELY stay THERE AGAIN

Stayed for a long weekend, the front desk staff were excellent , rooms were very well appointed including a flat panel tv and free munchies in the room.
the hotel only has 51 rooms so in season you must book early, try and avoid the basement rooms as they have no view and street noise can disrupt a good nights sleep.
food was always available 24/7 at no extra cost.
the hotel is very clean and centrally located no matter what your in town for.

Our stay here was absolutely wonderful. I will not repeat the detail posted by other users but to say the slightly higher price is more than worth it for the inclusive drinks, excellent staff and great breakfast (french toast to die for!)

The staff could not do enough for us and were genuinely friendly, the room was very comfortable and the location excellent. We will be back.
