My boyfriend and I stayed here in December last year as a last minute break. We booked directly through the hotels website as this was the best price....contrary to what we had read on various travel company sites! We arrived at the hotel at around 10.30pm but had let the hotel know that our flight didn't arrive till late...they were very friendly and helpful and didn't seem hassled by our late arrival. We ended up getting the train to the centre of amsterdam as the shuttle bus was very expensive and told us it did not pass our hotel....even though the sign said it did! The hotel room was really clean and well decorated though was not the hugest room it was fine for the two of us. The beds are comfortable and you have a choice of pillows. The tv is plasma screen- wall mounted and the movies/ all channels are free.
The mini bar in the room is well stocked with lager, coke, diet coke, fruit juices, water and you have large decanters of brandy, whisky and gin too. We drank much of this on the first night (oops!) but returned to our room the next day-after shopping!- to find that these had all been restocked.
The bar area in the hotel recpetion was lovely...cosy fireplace and christmas tree! There are also lots of free drinks availible here...as well as snacks such as nuts/olives/cheeses etc.
Overall we had a great time and found the hotel very welcoming and a lovely place to hang around in both during the day and at night. It is a little expensive though worth it for a treat! The only thing we thought it could improve on was food...maybe restaurant or room service could be offered?

We have returned from 2 days at this wonderful hotel. The hotel is in a great location, all attractions easily accessible.
The hotel is in the Art Deco style.Downstairs there is an open fire, seating and the 'honesty' bar.The whole atmosphere of this hotel is summed up by the free bar and free mini bar in your room, they say they want it to feel like 'home from home'and it does. The free bars are a wonderful idea, you have no large overpriced drinks bill to collect on checking out,but this privilege was never abused on our visit.
The hotel room was lovely, flat t.v on the wall, dvd player, free movies and a great bathroom. The bathroom has a huge walk in shower with rain head shower.
Breakfast was good also, agood choice of food, cereal, fruit, cold meat, cheeses and the normal bacon, eggs and sausage, simple but great.
The staff were excellent throughout our stay, very helpful. They recomended a french restaurant for us on the saturday night,we had the taster menu(as recommended by an earlier review)and it was the best meal we have ever had.
To sum up,this is a great hotel,in a great location at a reasonable price.
We booked through Opodo and paid £225 for the 2 nights.
Looking forward to our next visit.

Banks Mansion is in a great location and really does have a 24hr free bar in the lounge and free drinks in the rooms. The lounge is a great spot to hang out after a hard day's sightseeing and again after an evening out.
We were upgraded from a ground floor room to a deluxe room (smaller but with a canal view). Nice decor, comfy bed and brilliant walk-in shower.
The staff are very friendly and make you feel at home, and the breakfasts are great - we didn't need any lunch!

There's a hotel shuttle to and from the airport (12 Euros each way) but we got the train and the tram which was fine.

We have just returned from a weekend at Banks Mansion,
very impressive !!
Staff could not do enough for us and we extremely warm and friendly, no problem providing any information required.
Rooms were very good, complimentary decanters of gin, brandy and whisky and the fridge was also stocked with beers and mixers. Although there was a free bar downstairs in the lounge with cakes and snacks and a coffee machine. (My 1 bugbear was that there were no facilities to make tea and coffee in the rooms)
The bathrooms are wonderful, a bath big enough to swim in and a'rain shower' to wake you up in the morning.
The food was plentiful, we ordered room service on the sat morning for 2 of us and there was enough food to feed at least 4 people.
Location wise it was ideal, less than 10 mins away from Dam Square so all attractions easy to find.
All in all, a wonderful hotel with excellent facilities and great staff.

Just returned from a 2 night stay here. I had stayed there previously when it was called the Canal Crown, and things have improved a lot since then. Great location close to some main attractions. Free bar & minibar is a good idea and works well. For the price, I found the room could have done with a little fixing up as some fixtures were showing wear & tear, but overall a nice room. Large rainshower in particular a great feature. Staff very friendly and helpful.
