“Very comfortable hotel in easily accessible are of Amsterdam”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013 via mobile

Lovely setting overlooking a canal. Friendly helpful staff, of whom nothing was a bother when asked. Very nice reception area with bar and lounge area which I will talk about later. I had an early arrival but was able to access my room immediately which was a blessing as I had been up since 3 am. Bedroom very comfortable with extremely comfortable bed, fantastic shower and great minibar. Breakfast was sublime, fresh fruit, and fruit juices, gorgeous bread, croissants, cold meats, cheese etc, but also as you ordered freshly made omelette or however you wanted your eggs prepared or pancakes which were delicious, can highly recommend. Also sausages and bacon if required. Bar and rest area provided free drinks alcoholic and non alcoholic all day including tea, coffee and hot chocolate. Snacks appropriate to the time of day also available, but my favorite was the cheese bar which was wheeled out for pre dinner drinks and snacks - wonderful. The hotel is at the expensive end of my usual budget, but with the food and drinks supplied free, I reckon we saved money in the end. Would highly recommend this hotel and would love to return.

Dear Guests,

Wow! We were dazzled by reading your great and extensive review! A story full of complements for us! Thank you for that. How joyful that you appreciated the unique ‘home, away from home’ concept so much. The complementary bar in the Living, the private bar in the room, comfortable beds, the pillow menu, the rain shower, the movies and DVDs, as well as the iPads and internet offered throughout the entire hotel. A thank you from our chefs at the breakfast restaurants for the great compliment about our breakfast, which, next to all great fresh products, provides you with live-cooking. Our chefs will make great eggs, omelettes and pancakes for you on request!

We are happy to have been part of your budget saving vacation! We hope to be welcoming you again in the near future.

Thank you again for the review!

With kind and warm regards,

We just returned from Amsterdam and had the pleasure of staying at the Banks Mansion for two evenings prior to embarking on a river cruise. There were six of us in our group and we all loved our stay at the Banks. The location is perfect as it is centrally located in Amsterdam in a lovely neighborhood on a canal. Our three rooms were immaculate, nicely furnished and overlooked the canal. The beds and pillows are extraordinarily comfortable. Breakfast was included and was delicious with yummy breads, omelettes, fresh fruit and the best coffee. The breakfast room is charming and very welcoming. The staff at the Banks is outstanding; they provide any assistance you need with a smile. They offer wine, soft drinks, bottled water, beer, juice, and alcohol in the lobby each day as well as fine chocolates, assorted candies and a beautifully presented "happy hour" cheese table. The coffee machine is simply the best we've ever seen. The lattes and espressos are beyond delicious.
Because of their gracious hospitality, guests tend to linger in the lobby and get to know one another.
You can't make a better choice than the Banks Mansion .... and again, kudos to an outstanding staff! They helped to make our stay in Amsterdam perfect!

This hotel was a little pricey - but probably worth it. The price of the rooms included breakfast, a break area in the lobby and the mini-bar in the room. We had a little trouble with the shower (#312) in that some water ran out under the shower door. But...that was a very minor inconvenience. The hotel was close enough to everything so that we could walk to everywhere (to the tour pickup, red light district (to see - not partake), Heinekin Brewery, Ann Frank's house, etc.) and there were ATM machines all around us. I recommend it.

Dear guest,

We greatly appreciate you taking the time to write a review about your stay at Banks Mansion, thank you for that! Thank you for recommending our hotel and it is great that you have enjoyed the proximity to many great hotspots. The price of Banks Mansion is slightly higher than other 4 star hotels because we offer a full service concept. So all our drinks in the Living as well as in the room are included in your stay. But also the breakfast, hi-speed internet, wine bar, cheese table and complementary use of iPads.
Thank you for your note about the shower, this is fixed now. So we hope we can welcome you once more at Banks Mansion in the near future.

This is a lovely hotel to stay at. The area is delightful and the canal side setting is very pretty. Staff are all very friendly and helpful. The charming receptionist phoned housekeeping to see if we could get our room early and we were able to get it around 13.30.

The room was pleasant and the complimentary drinks are nice to have, especially the water/soft drinks. We didn’t use the spirits in the room but enjoyed the Nespresso coffee.
We were in a room on the top floor as our request for a quiet room on a high floor was met in full. It was quiet, although you could open the window and that made it a bit noisier with trams down below.
The lounge concept is great. I loved chilling there with a cup of tea or coffee and a magazine, and again later for wine and cheeses. We had our own ipads so didn’t use the hotel ones, but loved having wifi. Used the hotel computer to book and print out tickets for the Rijksmuseum.

Breakfast in the basement was very pleasant – again staff were lovely and always asked if we would like something more before breakfast ended. I loved the dark breads – rye etc and the cumin cheese. The room service is sushi so don’t expect the normal burgers/club sandwich type of menu.

Lots of nice traditional type bars around eg Café Heuval on Spiegalstraat and Café Mulder on Weteringschans near the Heineken brewery and Café Zwart on Spui.We also liked Myrabelle on Vijzelgracht. Just a few mins from Rembrandtplein for more touristy bars.

We have been to Amsterdam every year for the last 11 years and this was the first time that we didn’t bother to go into the centre/Dam Square/red light district. Visited the Museum Willet-Holthuysen just down from the hotel on Herengracht which we enjoyed. The Hermitage is also close, but we will save that for another trip.

Loved the atmosphere on Sunday, which was a lovely sunny day, and all the Amsterdamers who had boats seemed to get them out and were having lovely picnics (many with champagne) on the canals

All in all we enjoyed this hotel enough to rebook for next January!

Me and my best friend spent a night at Banks Mansion and we were not disappointed.
The hotel is well located near the canal ring, museum district and Rembrandt Square.
We chose the hotel as we were looking for somewhere in the heart of the city, with a touch of luxury and that is exactly what we got.
We arrived early, before we could check in, but the staff were very helpful and let us leave our bags in the luggage area, so that we could spend the day exploring the city.
When we returned, our luggage had been taken up to our room.
Ludwig on the front desk explained that the bar in the lounge area was complimentary.
There was a wide range of beverages including tea, coffee, wine, beer, spirits, soft drinks, as well as light snacks of cheese, salami and bread.
The room was spacious, with a fantastic bathroom, toiletries and a waterfall shower.
There was also complimentary cognac, whisky and gin in the rooms as well.
Breakfast was a delightful buffet, a great choice of bread, cheese, fresh fruit, cereals, pastries, and freshly made omelettes and eggs cooked to order.
While the hotel is a little more expensive than some of the other hotels in the city, it is well worth paying a bit more given that it is in easy walking distance from all of the tourist attractions and the service is second to none.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Amsterdam, and I would stay here again on a return visit to Amsterdam.

Situated in a lovely area near the canal ring. Very easy to get everywhere - Rembrant square, flower market, but not so close to the chaos of Dam Square. Loved the concept of a complimentary mini-bar and donwstairs bar. Very civilised. Would recommend.
