This was our first stay at this hotel and we loved it and will return.

Highlights were:
the corner room...this is a must. There is more room and more light in these units facing the front of the hotel. Ask ahead of time. Even with the windows opened, you couldn't really step out on to balcony because there was not much room. There are better views around town but other things in this hotel make up for the lack of a balcony. Rooms are small but extremely functional and charming.
The complementary beverage and food in lobby was great. We invited a friend over after a long day and enjoyed just sitting in front of the fire place drinking and snacking and enjoying it all. We liked getting extra water and coffee from this area to bring to room. NIce chocolates and rotating snacks all day long if you happened to be there. Bar in room and frig for other things.
Free WI Fi in lobby at two big desks. You could check in on any info without using your room computer. They also gave you 50 minutes free WI FI in room.
Bathrooms were great...not huge but perfectly set. Great big tub and fantastic rain shower. Very clean. Ice and shoe shine right at the end of the hallway.
Bed was nice and hard but I did not like the seam down the middle. This would be so easy to correct with a proper pad over the seam! Pillows were rather lumpy.
Breakfast down stairs in the basement was fabulous. We missed the first morning because we slept in but the second day we enjoyed all the goodies. Great selection of papers and magazines at breakfast and in lobby each day.
The front desk was outstanding! Great help and extremely friendly.
The only thing I thought odd was the lack of vacuuming of the carpet in all of the hall ways. This made its seem dirty but I could just tell that it really had not been vacuumed well...or in a long time. Odd... when every thing else was very clean.
GREAT LOCATION.
The tram was just outside hotel a block up. Very easy to get to train station, 10 minute ride. Not on a super busy street but close to every thing. Flower mart was 2 blocks away. Great cafes near by.
Fabulous hotel... we will be back.

Spent an easter here. Nice, tidy rooms, comfy bed. Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was good too with all the usual eggsybacon stuff, healthier things and the made-for-order omelettes/pancakes. Connections were good since the tram line is right next to the hotel. Complimentary bar and snacks is the greatest, when you are feeling lazy you can just slob it in the lounge by the fireplace and sip cava ... :)

If you look for something to wish for, some kind of sauna/spa/gym like thing would be great .. also they could lose the 50 minute complimentary wireless internet limit ..

I stayed here as part of a young couple between 13/03/08 - 16/03/08 after seeing the reviews on Tripadvisor.
They had booked us under the wrong name but this was quickly rectified although it was funny seeing a handwritten note in the room saying "welcome back Mr & Mrs ..."
The hotel was like we expected, we had booked a deluxe room with canal view for a bit extra. The room was slightly on the small side but this is quite normal in European hotels.
The room was well stocked with cognac, vodka and brandy and the mini bar had some cans of beer, fruit juices, smoothies and water. There were also some complimentary apples which we didnt have a chance to eat! We had bought some drinks from the airport hence the big bottle of baileys on our table! Word of note, if you want the mini bar restocked, make sure you let the cleaners know you want your room cleaned/drinks restocked! we didn't get it restocked on the second day.
The beds were really comfy, I didn't notice the choice of pillows that other reviews had mentioned, maybe I missed that.
The air-conditioning worked fine, and we did have a nice view of our canal from our window. It was very quiet at night which was surprising but welcomed. We also had a flat screen TV which had English channels.
The bathroom was nice, which was also on the small side, again this is expected in European hotels. The rain-shower was amazing, although there was no bathtub. The complimentary slippers and massive white bathrobes were also a welcome addition.
The breakfast was nice, we went for one morning (closes by 10.30am) we got there about 10.20 and the toast had run out so its best to go earlier, the cook was nice and she made our eggs to our liking although she couldn't make the poached eggs I wanted!
The un-staffed bar downstairs was also nice with comfy seats and a fireplace, and with a range of alcoholic drinks, soft drinks and a coffee machine. There was also a variety of snacks which changed during the day. The free internet downstairs was also a welcome addition. Many of the people seemed to be business travelers, so we did feel a bit out of place as younger travelers!. The staff were very helpful with places to go and things to do in the locality. The nearest trams were 16/24 to get to central station but pretty much everything can be reached by walking too. The usual taxi service from the hotel to the airport was 48E so if your trying to budget it might be better to take the tram/train route.
Overall I would recommend this hotel, if your prepared to pay a little extra for luxury. I will definitely stay in this hotel again, and has provided us with many good memories of Amsterdam.

This was my second time after 2 years at Banks Mansion. The Hotels is great and it is my favourite city Hotel right now in Europe.Great room with free minibar and spirits of your choice but what is really amazing is the staff..from the GM of the Hotel to the people of the reception they are all helpfull and do always their best to please the guests with more than a smile. The location is also great as all the major sights are in walking distance. Looking forward to stay again at the Banks Mansion.
