Just come back from an Excellent Xmas Holiday break in Amsterdam with DFDS and Victoria Hotel.

Sea crossing was good we had the calm bit...

The Hotel was excellent, room perfect. Had a nice swim in the leisure pool. Staff excellent full marks to them all working on Xmas day. Breakfast was all included for us and was truly wonderful wish we had it at home.

We were pleased that the trams and water bus ran on Xmas day and Boxing day. Big shops closed but plenty of independents open. Lots of places to eat a Xmas meal ( non traditional).

We would recommend Los Latinos Damrak 32 if you like qulity steaks and peppper sauces.
Lots of cafe open both days. The De Rozenboom rozenboomsteeg 6 serves very nice soup and coffee.

Take your skates and have a spin round the ice pool by the van Gogh museum.

Cant wait to go again

November 3rd 2006 Victoria Hotel, 1-5 Damrak, Amsterdam.
Excellant location, clean room though a little on the small side. Did'nt eat at the hotel as there were numerous resturants in the area. Did leave credit card details with reception just in case! Would not recommend this as a charge has been applied to my card when no services were used, on telephoning the finance dept at hotel on my return they said it was most probably for breakfast, I explained that neither my husband or I had anything they promised to look into the matter and ring back, I am still waiting for a return call! I would use the hotel again if I ever return to Amsterdam (without giving credit card details). Amsterdam is a strange mixture of seedy and cultural, as long as you are aware of the area's to see or not, it's not a problem and the public transport is superb we enjoyed our weekend (it was a surprise birthday/anniversary present for my husband, we had a laugh)

Just come back from Amsterdam and had a Brilliant time.
We stayed at the hotel 3 nights and i thought it was lovely..... not that we saw much of it as we were out all day and all night.
I would reccomend for sure!

We spent 4 nights in the Victoria Hotel - Amsterdam in October.
Ideal location. When we arrived at the train station from Schipol Airport the hotel was directly across the road - could'nt be any nearer! All main attractions are within walking distance.

Hotel was lovely. Nice Bar and restaurant and not overly priced. Rooms were comfortable, quite large in size with all the modern amenities. Interior was a little old fashioned and could do with a makeover but room was cleaned every day with fresh linen etc.

If I had to pick out some negatives points on the hotel- the rooms were very warm especially at night-their heating system was operating throughout the night and we had to put on the air conditioning one night as it was so stuffy. Beds were very soft for those who have back problems!

Prices in the hotel were similar to any european city. Staff were friendly and very co-operative. A definite thumbs up in my opinion.
