“Great location for proximity to train station - the "good" ends there”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

If you are looking for a convenient, walking distance hotel near the Amsterdam Centraal station, then this is convenient - 5 min walk just across the canal from station (although there are other options in the area). But that is the only positive thing I can honestly say about this hotel.

I stayed as part of a work conference (offsite luckily), so also have the benefit of feedback from several other colleagues also staying in the hotel (all with consistent views). The only good thing I can say about the hotel is the location. Now the bad:

--- The hotel is dated - old carpets, rooms etc. And the rooms have a bit of a cheap fell to them.
--- When I opened the drawer in the coffee area of my room, there were several open packets of sugar, a dirty spoon, and a "liquid" of some sort that had been spilled in the drawer (clearly not the best room service).
--- Several of the glasses in the room were dirty, with a couple retaining lipstick stains.
--- The wireless internet is disfuntional (not even good enough to connect and get a regular email download). This is something ALL of us experienced, so not a specific issue for my room.
--- I cannot comment on the breakfast because the only morning I made it there was a line, and they did not have sufficient room for the guests (so ended up leaving due to time constraints). Poor mgt in not having enough seating available? Or just an awesome breakfast commanding a line worth waiting for? Will let others who made it in be the judge....

I am not a picky traveler and am generally very satisfied with a decent level of quality and service, but for Amsterdam (and even close to the train station) there are many other options (and above all - if you need wireless internet in your room - DO NOT COME HERE).

Room Tip: If you do stay here and want wireless internest, demand up front that you get a room with good signa...

I was first given a room in the Victorian Wing, which turned out to be in bad need of refurbishment. The bed was really uncomfortable, for which there really is no excuse.

To their credit, when I complained the next morning, I was immediately given a room in the Urban Wing, which fully met my expectations of a Park Plaza: modern, well designed, comfortable.

Recently, I had the opportunity to spend a few days in Amsterdam before beginning a Rhine River cruise. And, staying at the Park Plaza Victoria was equivalent to receiving an unexpected present. First, I quickly learned at the airport information center that the hotel was right across from the central train station, which was only a quick train ride (and 5 euros) from the airport. So it was so convenient to walk from the train station to hotel . On arrival which was mid-morning, they had a room available so I was able to check-in and settle immediately. The check-in process was quick and flawless. The room (while it did not have a view) was updated, clean, quiet, comfortable, and had unlimited WI-fi. In addition to being located close to the train station, the hotel was also centrally located in Amsterdam. So, everything I wanted to see and experience was a close walk away. Everyone at the hotel is very professional -- the check-in staff, housekeeping, dining room staff, and concierges. The buffet breakfast is highly recommended which fortunately was included as part of my reservation. And to end it all, I was able to walk to the dock to start my Rhine River cruise. What more could a traveler ask!

Room Tip: If possible, request a room with a view.

Our recent stay in amazing Amsterdam was in this fantastic hotel. Here are our thoughts after our stay: Pros: • Location is fantastic. Close to train station, boats, trams, metro, and busses. Lots of small shops and cafes within 5 minutes. • We stayed in the Urban wing. Room was updated and very modern and well designed. • Bathroom was very nice with a beautiful glass door and large hot shower • Lots of closet space with two small drawers. • Refrigerator and safe in room. • Concierge staff was friendly and helpful. • Gym facilities were fantastic. a wide variety of cardio and weight training machines to use in a very clean and modern facility. Free weights, dumbbells, weight machines for upper and lower body. Kinesis machines. Treadmills, bikes, steppers, and rowers. Open 24 hours. Trainer available and nice cold water for free! Sauna and very small pool on first floor. • Excellent blackout shades to keep the light out in the morning. • Nice variety of television stations with several Dutch, English, and many other languages. • To celebrate our anniversary they delivered a bottle of wine and fruit to our room at no charge! Nice touch! Cons/Things to note: • Lighting in room was far too dim. No overhead light and only small reading lamps spread around the room for general lighting. Very hard on the eyes. Made being in the room at night very uncomfortable. • Had to go from one elevator to another to get to our room because of connection between old and new wings. Not difficult but became annoying over our stay. • Hallways smelled like pot several times. Also smelled musty on floor where you switched elevators. • Business center consisted of two computers placed next to the check in desk in the lobby. Not very private or convenient. Terribly slow internet connection even for their own wired computers. Free internet service was available in the room, but most of the time it was incredibly slow and difficult to even log into. In addition, each time you shut off your computer or if it goes to sleep you need to log back into the internet, meaning you may need to log in several times if you stop using the computer even briefly. • Breakfast and dinner both available but we did not eat there because they were exceptionally expensive. Lots of other less expensive choices for meals within walking distance. • Bed was comfortable but pillows were horrible. Flat does not begin to describe them. • While we could not hear the trains, there was considerable noise from outside due to trams, cars, trucks, and people lining up in front of the hotel for tours. Bring your earplugs! Overall: The pros outweigh the cons for us. A very nice hotel that was comfortable to stay in and in an excellent location. We certainly would book again if we return to Amsterdam.

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights on our vacation and had we not been going to another city I would have loved to stay longer. The hotel was very clean and the workers were very attentive. It was in a great location across from the train station, by the canal boats and either a quick walk or tram ride to anywhere in the city. The beds were also very comfy which was a welcome surprise and our view of the central station was unbeatable. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would use it again if I go back to amsterdam.

The hotel is right across from Amsterdam Central station, so very easy to find and no wandering about means you can check in and start exploring right away. Room was bright and modern, and as we were at the back of the hotel there was very little noise from the Main Street. There is a hotel restaurant but we didn't use it so can't comment on it - there are plenty of eating places round about which we used for breakfast and meals. Staff were very helpful and check-in/out was problem free. As we booked on-line and had never visited Amsterdam before, we didn't know what to expect, and were certainly not disappointed in this hotel. The location is probably the strongest selling point for those who want somewhere central, easy to find and within minutes of train links, and you won't be disappointed with the accomodation either.

Room Tip: As the hotel is right opposite the main train station, maybe a front room could be noisier - we had...
