“Convenient Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2013

I stayed in this hotel for 4 nights September 2013. I had requested a high floor with a view when I booked the room and was given the top floor upon check in. Room was clean and had a kettle for tea or coffee which is a big plus for me. The hotel is across from the train station and trams yet far enough as to not hear noise . The room was very quiet. Staff were wonderful and helpful. My only negative for this hotel is the restaurant. I ate 2 meals there and service was bad both times. Food could have been much better for the price. Go elsewhere to eat is my advice. I would recommend this hotel for it's location.

We only stayed one night but we were very impressed and will certainly try to stay again. Unfortunately we only had one night in Amsterdam and did not have time to use the swimming pool even though we had intended to.

The hotel is ideally situated just across from the main railway station, with this only a 15 minute train ride from Schiphol airport. The old part of the hotel is tired, and needs a bit of a revamp, but the room was clean and quiet. If you want a view of the square, then you need to ask when you book. We were on the 5th floor at the rear of the hotel, and the view from our small window was no more than adequate, but at least we didn't oversee the air conditioning units.

Rooms come with tea and coffee facilities, but be warned that the milk is powder - I asked room service to send me up some fresh milk, and the chap turned up 10 minutes later with more strips of dried milk!

Breakfasts are buffet style, with no waiter service for tea and coffee - the breakfasts are adequate but variety I thought was lacking. It seemed to be cereals, some cooked meats, some small amounts of fruit, your typical english breakfast (though the bacon was VERY fatty) and croissant. The tea and coffee were from machines, though fresh milk was available.

We ate in the restaurant one night - the food was good but not hot. We also had a snack in the bar, which was much superior and cheaper. With so many food places around town, next time I'd not waste my money in the hotel.

Overall, the staff were helpful, the place was clean, and though I may hesitate to stay there again, I might do because of it's location.

I didn't look, but am told that the new part of the hotel is very stylish, and more expensive. If you do book, ask for the prices in the new area - the rooms look larger, lighter and more modern.

Overall, not a lot to fault, but I would not give it a 4 star rating. Maybe a 3.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the front, and in the 'new' part of the hotel. The rooms at the front wil...

I cannot fault this hotel in any way, from the 5 min walk across the square from the station to the fabulous rooms and first class service.
Most of the tour companies seem to depart their tours from 100 metres down the rd and plenty of good food to be had in the surrounding blocks
Stay elsewhere at your peril.

From the photos I saw on the Internet when I booked this hotel, it looked like a charming old hotel situated on an idyllic little canal that had been stylishly renovated. Not the case. In actuality, it is located across from the train station (taxis won't drive you, you will have to walk all your luggage from the station to the hotel). The area surrounding the hotel is swarming with crowds of people, tacky tourist shops, and junky food joints. It's rough. For those Americans reading this, the atmosphere at the Park Plaza Victoria isn't old European charm, it's spring break at the Daytona Beach Econolodge. My room was so dirty, I had to call the front desk to complain, but not until after I took photos of it - see the photos I've posted. Highlights include a filthy sink with hairs in it and dirty carpet. The lighting in the rooms is so dim that I can't help but wonder if it's by design: to hide the filth. The hotel offered another room. I've posted photos of that one, too. The "clean" room featured dirty, stained carpet and hadn't been dusted in months. For an idea of the overall cleanliness of the hotel, I have posted a photo of the hotel ice machine. I think that photo pretty much sums it up. If I could give the Park Plaza Amsterdam a negative 5 score, I would. Save yourself the experience and waste of money and stay away from this hotel.

We arrived at CEntral Station around 21.30 on Thursday evening and as you exit Central Station the Park Plaza is straight acroos the main road in front of you so it is ideally situated.
The reception area was fantastic and we could see we had booked a very nice hotel. The staff werre fantastic and helpfull and check in took about five minutes, there were four of us.
The rooms were great. Clean and very modern with all the usual facilities. Mini bar prices were the usual city centre hotel prices. Breakfast was very expensive so we ate out. The concierge was a very helpfull man and he gave out very usefull information regarding sightseeing and things to do. We would definately stay there again.

Stayed in this hotel as a Birthday treat and although it is not the cheapest in Amsterdam it certainly has a good location opposite central station.
The room we had overlooked the station and was very noisy (traffic noise) if the window was left open.
The room was small but very nice furniture.
The Bar is very modern and has a good supply of alchohol.
Would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a bit of luxury whilst in Amsterdam.
