“Not bad, if you have your own car.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2013

We drove to Amsterdam for a quick weekend getaway and stayed here. We booked a Deluxe Twin room mainly because it had air conditioning, whereas the Standard Twin room does not. Well, the Air Conditioner did not work, luckily it is uncharacteristically cold right now so that didn't affect us too much.
The Beds were comfortable, the room was very clean, the shampoo they offered in the room was uber tiny (smaller than my small pinkie finger), the location seemed a little sketchy and out of the way (it is in a more residential area of town which means MUCH easier parking, but I didn't feel as safe there.)
They do have a reasonable restaurant downstairs that serves decent food mainly Italian and Spanish at reasonable prices. the Chocolate Lava cake was delicious but tiny. They also have a pool table and bar there and plenty of vending machines.
The "gym" consisted of 2 broken and unusable Bow Flex machines. But for the Money and our one night stay there I would recommend it. we were visiting both the city of Amsterdam and Keukenhof Gardens in one day and it was located right between the 2 locations about a 20-25 minute drive to either location.
They also have the option to rent bikes downstairs for your stay I believe it was 15E a day, and they also have an abundance of travel brochures and coupons in the lobby. I also believe they have a Dominos Pizza Room Delivery service as we saw a delivery boy bringing pizzas into the hotel when we arrived.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay. It was quite, clean, comfortable and had enough amenities in the hotel that the distance to the city didn't really affect our stay. I would recommend it. :)

12 of us stayed at the hotel for a stag do in Amsterdam at the end of April. As you can imagine trying to find somewhere willing to take on some many people and not cost a fortune was quite tricky at first but after a thorough search round of hotels I was struck by Hotel Remco’s pictures, price and availability. Booking with them was extremely straightforward and should you wish it there is always the option to have breakfast. As to the hotel, it and the bedrooms/bathrooms were clean and every bit what you would expect for a 3 star. In fact they were considerably more spacious than some 4 stars I have stayed in.

The staff, apart from an initial problem with the booking in staff, were very helpful and the bar and pool table were well used by us during our short stay. We also met some very friendly Australians who gave us advice on the best way to get into town.

There is also a supermarket nearby plus some local restaurants in case you are interested.

As a whole our party enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Remco and I would definitely recommend it.

Plusses – practical, no frills, good value for money.

Flaws – staff were a bit rude when we arrived as I couldn’t get a signal on my phone so I was unable to access the booking number and they refused to accept my surname as confirmation of our arrival. Apart from that they were very helpful.

The cheapest way to get there: if you are coming from the airport catch the 69 bus outside the departures terminal and get off at Vrijzicht. Take the next left to Osdorper Ban and walk down the road for about 5-10 minutes, turn right past the church after the bridge and the Spar and the hotel will be ahead of you. Travelling by bus will cost you €2.80 each a shuttle bus will cost you €16.50 each.
If you plan on using a lot of public transport while in Amsterdam, you might as well it is very good, you can get a travel card which will save you even more.
Upon leaving the hotel walk back towards the main road, take the little bridge over the stream and follow the cycle path to your left. After a minute or two ahead of you will be the tram. Take this to Dam or the main train station, it should take about 20 minutes, half an hour at rush hour and again travel cards will save you money.
Oh and watch out for cyclists, they are everywhere.

Three adults sharing a triple room in the hotel - spacious enough for the three of us not to feel crowded (though we did shift the furniture about a little to make it this way!!). Hotel convenient to both trams and buses - five minute walk took you to both. Shopping centre again just five minutes walk away.
Hotel itself pretty impressive for the price and its target market. The reception staff were not only courteous, but extremely accommodating - on one occasion we came down to make a query at reception just as a group arrived to check in, and the receptionist, who was on her own, was perceptive enough to wave us through the group to speak to her, while she was processing their booking. Yes, we had a problem with the first room we were put in, the heating not really working, we stayed just one night, and the next morning, as soon as we went to reception about it, they immediately apologised, and moved us into a warmer room, also supplying extra duvets for the beds, just in case.
This isn't a hotel to stay in if you intend exploring Amsterdam centre at night, although a night bus does run, and will drop you just five minutes walk from the hotel, but the tram and bus services both run very regularly throughout the day right up to around 10 pm, and a day pass is extremely economical, as it covers use of both buses and trams.
Overall, I couldn't fault the hotel or its staff, quality of room was decent, and staff were more than pleasant, and for the price paid, you couldn't have got better.

Room Tip: try and go for lower floors, as the heating tends to work better in these rooms.

We booked this hotel knowing it was on the outskirts of the city which was reflected in the price, however in hindsight we would have rather paid more for a hotel nearer the centre. Generally we like to be just outside the city with maybe a 10-15 walk or 5-10 minute bus journey, however this had a 10 minute walk to the tram stop and then a 20-25 minute tram ride into town which was a bit further than we realised. There were quite a few small shops around the area of the hotel but maybe as it is more of a residential area there were no bars other than the bar in the hotel. Apart than the location the hotel itself was ideal, it was clean and quiet and warm. The beds and pillows were comfortable, the room spacious and the bathroom was roomy, bright and modern with a big shower. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful, we asked for a second quilt for our room as the weather was really cold when we were there and this was not a problem and a staff member brought one up straightaway. We were also able to leave our luggage in a locked room at reception free of charge on the day of departure for as long as needed which was a bonus. We had read reports of dodgy characters hanging about outside the hotel and in the neighbourhood generally and were a bit wary when out and about but never encountered any problems. I would recommend the hotel but not necessarily the location, although for the money we paid we couldn't have it all! If you had a car then it wouldn't be a problem. Our rooms were on the 1st floor right at the front of the hotel and we thought it might be noisy but although we heard people coming in during the night and early hours it was generally very quiet.

The hotel was available at a reasonable price.Dam Square was at 20 mins distance from the hotel.Though the interiors were not very amazing but it had all the facilities you would seek for in a hotel. The hotel has a bar inside. You could book the room with the Breakfast option though we didn't go for it.Quite decent for a stay in Amsterdam.

Thanks to his location the hotel is great for travelers with cars who don't only wish to see Amsterdam, then also to visit other destinations.

The parking is free and as far as I could see the nxt street already is part of the parking-fee zone.

there is a busstation nearby and the tram is also only a ten minutes walk, it takes then 40 minutes alltogether to get to the center.

several grocery stores and mostly eastern fast-food restauranst are close to the hotel.

The duilding itself is nothing special, our room was quite big with a large double bed a table with two chairs and a desk.

the bathroom was also spacious.

there is no minibar in the room it can be a bit disturbing in the summer.

Not the easiest hotel in the world to find. it is situated in a residential area. Best way to get there is to take Tram number 17 from central station and get off at Hoekenes. Cross over the bridge on your right (over a canal with some art work ). Walk through the park and hotel is on the left. Don't be afraid to ask any of the locals for directions, I found them very friendly and helpful. The hotel is basic. rooms were very clean and much bigger then in a central hotel. Big problem are the pigeons that land on the window sill of your room. They are the loudest birds I have ever heard and woke me up at 4.30am.

Breakfast wasn't great, better to wait until you are in the city. Staff w ere very friendly and helpful. Bus 69 goes quite close and goes to Schipol airport (only €2.80). If you don't mind travelling into and out of the city then it is good value. Bar stays open till about 1am.

Room Tip: get a room on the lower floors as the pigeons seem to like the higher floors.
