This is the most perfect Mercure. The architectural of the building and the comfortable of the rooms are in complety harmony. It is the best hotel to stay im Amsterdam. Congratulations to The Convent Hotel (Mercure Gallery).

The best beds ! Perfect. The rooms are showing their age and bathroom need attention in classic rooms.Breakfast was poor with a poor quality hot selection.Room only when I stay next.Changed room to a suite for other 2 nights which had a great bathroom with rain shower.Staff are friendly and great location.

After comparing with other available hotels, I booked 2 nights at the Convent Hotel through the Accor Web site. Overall we were very pleased with our stay and found it to be a good value.

The location was very central. Almost everything was within walking distance or a quick tram ride, including the train station. I felt safe in the neighborhood.

The staff were friendly and helpful, spoke good English. We arrived earlier than the 2:00 check in, and since they were not fully booked, gave us an available room - greatly appreciated since we were dead tired. Several concierges helped us with directions, and offered advice and places to visit. We made good use of the free Internet in the business center. Breakfast was too expensive so we ate elsewhere, but they did provide free coffee in the room so I was happy. Plus they had elevators - you DO NOT want to walk up Amsterdam hotel stairs.

The room was just right - the style was more traditional (as opposed to Ikea-ish), but everything looked nice and was in great shape. The beds were incredibly comfortable - the blankets and pillows were soft and fluffy - SO nice to melt into after endless hours of walking in freezing cold weather. The room was very clean (and I'm quick to notice - I even check mattresses for spots). By European standards, the room was a decent size. The bathroom was clean, updated and spacious. We were on the second floor, so we did get some street noise from people passing and trash pickup, but nothing ongoing or bothersome. If you need complete quiet, go higher up.

The only downside I found was the lack of a safe in the room. Also, when we turned the TV on, it said we had to pay for service, but when I turned it on later, we had service at no charge.

So I would definitely stay at the Convent Hotel again and recommend it to friends.

This hotel, formally owned by Sofitel, is showing its age. It is fine, but one should look out for deals in order for it to be value for money. It is very convenient. There is a lot of traffic noise--so take ear plugs.

I stay here every few weeks now. The staff are a great team, the hotel is central for all areas of Amsterdam, and secure. Rooms are larger than most in Amsterdam where hotel rooms in the best hotels, can be very small. If you upgrade your room, you get extra and unusual space and this is rare in Amsterdam. The hotel extends back to several buildings and across, so rooms vary in shape, but all are quiet. For the right rate, book well ahead and use the Accor website, they often have deals there, not on booking engines. (E.g 3 nights for 2!).
Breakfast is excellent quality, healthy, well presented.
Handy between central station (6 mins) and The Dam Palace /square, (3 mins).
The Managament and entire staff team work well together always very professional, make every effort to accomodate you, and this makes the stay very pleasant, and a nice atmosphere throughout. It is part of the Accor group, so well resourced and reliable, and a set international standard 4*. MGallery are stylish individual hotels, reflecting their character and locations well.
