“Luxury Hotel, Superb Staff, Great Location.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

Slowly falling in love with the Accor group of hotels. This hotel didn't disappoint either. From when we checked in, the staff member was attentive and warm. She provided local information that was of great benefit. Myself and our group were very pleased. We booked four rooms in total. Two twin rooms, a double room, and a luxury room for myself. I would like to thank Philip Ibrahim of the Novotel Berlin Am Tiergarten for arranging my upgrade "at no extra cost" I was and still am grateful for the time and effort he put in for doing this.

All the room types within our group were of great quality, and had no issues to mention except for the luxury room. Getting the room warm was next to impossible. The air-con even when on maximum temperature 30 degrees, didn't do much except put out cold air. There was two radiators that we used, but again didn't do much. No big issue I guess, but it was the only nag with the room.

All four rooms were given a bottle of complimentary taittinger champagne, some chocolates, and a booklet of local art. Was very thoughtful of the hotel to provide them, and all went down well with the group. Plus a voucher for a free cocktail at the bar.

The bed was comfy, and the cover I think was filled with duck feathers. The sleep was great, can't fault it.

At the end of our 2 nights, all rested, well traveled, checkout was smooth. I will be back to this hotel next year for my yearly visit to Amsterdam, and I look forward to it.

One small note, there's a British themed pub called The London Bridge which is a 5 min walk from the hotel, and located on the same road. The service was so so poor, and the attitude from the only guy server was so shocking that people just left. Took 40 mins for our food to arrive. When we asked when it would arrive, he just replied with "tomorrow maybe". Unfortunately it doesn't have a trip advisor page, otherwise I would put the above comment there.

If the hotel reads this, maybe you should warn your guests to avoid the place.

Room Tip: All rooms are great, but I had a luxury room which was very spacious.

My partner and I stayed at this hotel having read numerous reviews and found a great deal online. I had emailed the hotel after booking online to request and upgrade as a surprise for my better half. The communication via email was fantastic enabling them to tell me what they were able to offer. On arrival we were looked after famously and given information about the hotel. The bar staff were brilliant, offering advice on local beers/cocktails for us both. I would definitely look to head back to this hotel again, the location was perfect for walking to any part of the city. Thank you for having us!!!

The hotel was very clean and modern. The rooms were small, but that is common in these older hotels. The shower door and faucet takes a little getting used to, but then again, these are common types in Europe. The continental breakfast and the breakfast buffet were expensive for what was offered. Those are the only two choices for breakfast.

We have stayed here 3 times and always ask for a quiet room and there just aren't any. The good news is that this time the banging of the loading dock didn't start until 7 AM.

I agree with the other reviewers that the hotel needs an update. The sinks are inexpensive fake marble that has cracked surfaces and the carpets worn. As with all european hotels the rooms are small for the price.

Room Tip: Sorry, I can't recommend this hotel

Stayed for two nights, and although room was quite big and had all the basics, much of the hotel is in desperate need of a refurb. In our room we had stained sink and bath, a curtain with a cigarette burn, taps that moves around the socket and carpets that were aged and parted. Given the central location, I can see why this hotel feels it can charge around £150 per night, but unless it cleans itself up I believe it will find it very difficult to compete against more modern and updated competition. Staff however were very friendly and helpful.

as soon as you enter the hotel you are greeted by just really nice people.
We were able to get into our room at 9:30 A.M.!
The staff could not do enough from making sure we had a toothbrush(lost mine on the river cruise)
to making sure we were satisfied with our room
the location is right by all transportation.
you can walk to THE DAM (go to the Majestic for great Dutch food)
as well as the Anne Frank Museum

In summation we were leaving early and the staff opened before 6A.M. so we could have breakfast

just a great place to stay

Room Tip: it really doesn't matter we were on the 3rd floor
