“Great People Wonderful Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2013

as soon as you enter the hotel you are greeted by just really nice people.
We were able to get into our room at 9:30 A.M.!
The staff could not do enough from making sure we had a toothbrush(lost mine on the river cruise)
to making sure we were satisfied with our room
the location is right by all transportation.
you can walk to THE DAM (go to the Majestic for great Dutch food)
as well as the Anne Frank Museum

In summation we were leaving early and the staff opened before 6A.M. so we could have breakfast

just a great place to stay

Room Tip: it really doesn't matter we were on the 3rd floor

I enjoyed my 4 day stay -upgraded to a suite but by all means not a large room -separate shower room and small toilet cubicle which never seen before in a 4 star good speedy check in reception hallway/stairwell was dated and definitely needing a upgrade refurbishment - like hotel bar great cosy feeling and funished as train compartments- restaurant 23 euro buffet breakfast nice but only advised can order freshly made to order extras on last day -overall good hotel in good location but maybe time for a refurb.

Hotel is a boutique property, with a great location. Stayed in a luxury room and it was not very big

One of the days room was not made up. Complained at 7 pm and was informed they would take care right away. Stayed for 45 min in the lobby and went out for dinner. At 10:15 pm it was still as I had left it in the morning. I gave up. Apologies over the phone were ok, promising to make the rest of my stay better but no special treatment was received despite being a platinum Le Club member (quite obviously no obligation, but it is not unusual to throw a free dinner or breakfast in).

Breakfast is on the expensive side at 23 eur for a quite discrete buffet, but cheaper reasonable alternatives are offered.

I short, not a bad hotel but certainly had a bad day with me on the service side. At the prices they charge, this should not happen often.

This is a superb hotel. We arrived pretty tired but were welcomed with smiles and courtesy. Staff was also very helpful when giving restaurant advice.

The bedroom was very comfortable, and the bathtub was great. Lots of nice toiletries. Plenty of space, a comfortable chair, a desk, a kettle with different varieties of tea and coffee. But most of all an excellent bed. I wish I could sleep in such a comfortable bed whenever I travel.

This is a centrally located hotel situated near to Dam Square and within minutes of both the legendary Red Light and China Town areas of the City.

If like myself you like to make your own way to and from the airport whenever you can instead of simply getting a taxi, then this hotel is ideal as it is within easy walking distance from the main train station.

Be aware that Amsterdam appears to be most ‘stoned’ city in Europe with the smell of Cannabis everywhere which includes the areas around this hotel.

Fortunately it is made very clear that there is no smoking [of anything] in the hotel and there is a hefty fine if you decide to break that rule [150 Euros] along with being asked to leave.

The hotel bar is fashioned to resemble a train carriage, however if 7 Euro’s for a simple White Russian cocktail is a guide, then it may have proven a wise move not to make use of those particular facilities.

As with other hotels, a breakfast for 25 Euros each would have to be something spectacular to justify that price tag, however as we didn’t take breakfast at the hotel it may well have been spectacular but I can’t comment on this.

The breakfasts we did take, were nearby and ranged from 4.95 to 6.95 Euros each

The staff speak several European languages and are very helpful especially when dealing with an issue with the room which seemed significantly smaller than that advertised – more suited for a single visitor really.

Courteous discussions having been concluded and a compromise over a room upgrade price saw us moved to a larger room with a suitably roomier bed!

The minibar is not the charlatan version which charges you for simply moving an item but is small and yet big enough to accommodate a fair size milk [Melk] carton and other items required to be kept cool.

A trouser press is provided however there is no room safe, that said the security of the lobby includes room key access to use the lift which was a nice touch.

Leaving aside the rather weak air conditioning, this is a very clean and comfortable hotel in an ideal location with exceptionally helpful staff.

I would definitely recommend this hotel and would have no concerns about staying here again.

Room Tip: Amsterdam is a party town so if you want a quiter night, try for a room that doesn't overlook th...

Ideal location for The Centre, quality shops,The Dam and wide range of Restaurants. Train from Airport (3.90 euros) to Central Station and the 7 minute walk to Hotel recommended. Haesje Claes Restaurant brilliant but must book.To avoid endless queue for Anne Franks, book on-line.
Watch out for bikes coming from all directions. Warm reception from helpful staff and generally very pleased with Hotel. Unlucky with staff shortage for replenishing buffet dishes and clearing breakfast tables. Bedrooms size not generous and bathroom a bit close to beds. Lighting poor for reading and powdering your nose (I'm told). Beds and linen of very high standard. Would definitely re-book if we return to Amsterdam.

Room Tip: The higher the floor the better. Our 3rd Floor was very quiet.
