“Location isn't always everything”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2013

This hotel is in a very good location in the centre of Amsterdam and close to the train station. The hotel though is tired and in need of refurbishment. The carpets look old and frayed. The rooms are dark and in need of upgrade. The bathroom is dated and the sink was marked that made it look like it wasn't clean. The fitness room was unique. I rang to find out where it was to be told that it was occupied. I thought I had misunderstood but was told that as this was also a sauna guests needed to book it and it was being used at that time. I booked it for later that evening only to be see that there was minimal equipment in it. No running machine and other equipment was very dated. If you want breakfast don't take the full American version for 23 euros. The bar does a 9 euro breakfast of coffee, breads and orange juice. Overall I will stay somewhere else next time.

Room Tip: Try and get a room with a view. I didn't!

We visited Amsterdam on 180313 and stayed in the Convent Hotel for 3 days. On arrival at Schipol we travelled to Amsterdam Centraal station by train . This is an excellent service and easy to use. I(n the arrival hall go to the ticket office to buy tickets which are great value.I would advise buying your return tickets also at this time. For the two of us return tickets cost 17.60 euros. The station is below the entrance hall at the airport you just go down the escalator and the platform is there.Trains run every 10 mins and Amsterdam Cenraal is the 3 rd stop and takes about 20mins. Just walk out of the station and bear left. Cross the road via the pedestrian crossing watch out for cycles. The Hotel is about 300 metres from the station. The Hotel is a great base for your visit being close to numerous attraction including Anne Franks House whic if you plan visiting I suggest you pre purchase tickets online to avoid the queues. The Hotel Staff are very friendly and helpful. Our room was on the 5th floor and was nice and comfortable.Wi fi is availible in the room.Breakfast is very good with a selection of hot and cold dishes. I would definately reccomend the Convent Hotel for its location and value for money. Amsterdam is quite an expensive city for food and drink expect to pay at least 5 euros plus tax for .5litre of beer. Coffee varies in price from 3.60 euros per small cup to 2.5euros. The best value we found was at Starbucks next to the railway station about 2 euros for large cup . There are a vast number of fast food outlets burgers and kebabs etc, however for a very ordinary basic meal for 2 ie pasta or grilled meat dish expect to pay upwards of 40 euros. Having said all of this Amsterdam is a great place to visit its is vibrant and friendly .if you go enjoy your visit

Having spent three days in Amsterdam, we found this hotel to be in a perfect position to visit everything and surrounded by restaurants and bars in all directions, but without any noise or disturbance. Considering we were in a capital city, the rooms were adequate and comfortable, as were the beds, with good facilities. The breakfast was good with plenty of choice and we found all the staff friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel for anyone of any age having a break in Amsterdam.

Room Tip: We had a room overlooking a garden which was quiet so cannot comment on front hotels, although the a...

On the second leg of our Paris/Amsterdam trip we stayed here. The room was more roomy than a typical European hotel, but there were problems with the hot water in the shower which was inconsistent over the four days we were there. The room was also too hot, and we were unable to adjust it. The hotel is very conveniently located within walking distance from the train station, as well as most attractions and the tram, which stopped just outside. A very interesting bar was worth visiting.Overall, despite the problems a satisfactory stay.

Beste gast,

Easy walk from station. Friendly helpful staff. Room was amazing. Large and the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in apart from my own. Lovely old world charm. Am planning another visit to Amsterdam next year and will definitely stay here again.

We have an Accor loyalty card so decided we would try this hotel in Amsterdam, a city we have stayed in many times before. Very easy to find from Station, about a 8/10 min walk. Staff very friendly and helpful, we had room on the top floor which was spacious and quiet. We did not hear other guests or street noise. The Bar is ideal for a relaxing drink and is rather cosy! Happy hour on cocktails each evening which is a nice touch.

Breakfast is good but quite expensive. Plenty of other alternatives close by. Nice quiet reception area.

I really liked this hotel, it had a really nice feel to it, and I would certainly recommend it. We felt relaxed and comfortable during our stay.

They informed us they are closing for a total refurbishment from approx November 2013 until March 2014. So I will either try to visit again before then or plan to see what's new next year!

Well recommended.

Room Tip: Go for a luxury room or suite if you can!

Its clean near the station and dam square but away from all the noise ,the closest cafe is the Grasshoper......The rest is up to you.

There are many and diverse Hotels in Amsterdam this one lies somewhere in the middle.
