“Great Hotel, Great Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2011

My wife and I stayed here one night during a trip around Europe. Not knowing much about Amsterdam, we chose the hotel based on the price, location, and the unique history of the building. We were able to walk from the train station in less than 10 minutes. Once we arrived, we were upgraded to one of the suites, which was a great surprise. The room was VERY large and the bathroom was luxurious. My wife can't stop raving about the multi-head shower. The bed was huge and so comfortable. We had seen a lot of Argentinian restaurants around, so we asked one of the staff at the front desk for a recommendation. They pointed us in the direction of a steakhouse a couple blocks away that we really enjoyed. We would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a unique, luxurious hotel in Amsterdam near most of the locations in the city.

Another great time in Amsterdam, stayed at The Convent Hotel for the second time. Excellent service all the way. Breakfast was good with a fine selection of foods. Our room was quiet and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and most helpful. We purchased tram tickets from reception which was very convenient. The Hotel is in a great location. Just a few minutes from the train station and seconds from the centre of Amsterdam.

Stayed here for work and it is a very conveniently located hotel close to everything. However, it is a bit run down on the inside and the staff weren't as helpful as one would expect in a 4 star hotel from the Accor group. Not bad, but compared to other hotels I have stayed at in Amsterdam for a similar price it wasn't great. One of the elevators was busted too which made for very long waits.

Well placed with a short walk from the Central Station which has regular trains from the airport.
Tram stops all close by and plenty to do and see within a short walk.

Room Tip: Staying here meant that we spent nothing on taxis and just hopped on trams. Admittedly we had good...

Highy recommended. Very central. 2 min. walk distance to Dam Square. Tram stop infront of the hotel.
Very clean. Helpful staff.

Just one personal negative comment: Goose-quill bed sheet is not comfortable to sleep.Too soft for me. I removed it myself.

When i arrived at this hotel, I thought, WOW, this looks like a great place. Then upon entering the door, I saw that it was part of ACCOR which owns Motel 6. The room was old, linens were scary, and it was definitely not the worth the price. The location is excellent, but still just not worth the month. After the first night, I checked out and got another hotel.

Room Tip: stay somewhere else

Have just stayed at this hotel for 4 nights on business. The hotel itself is I pretty good shape, appears to have been recently refurbished.

The staff were very friendly on the whole and certainly made you feel welcome.

My room(245) was interesting, you open the door and were faced with a set of steps down in to the room, quite odd.

The room itself was very well appointed, the bed was very large and very comfortable. The bathroom was OK, clean which was good.

2 disappointing things with my room, the air con didn't work well, and the windows were locked, and apparently house keeping wanted to keep the radiators on full even though I turned them down everyday. The second thing, whilst the room was very nice, it was at the front of the the hotel, literally above the lobby looking out at the street, but the noise in the morning of the trams and trash collectors etc was very loud, even though the room had double glazing I was still awake by 6 am every morning.

The bar area feels every opulent, and is very comfortable, the bar staff were very helpful as well as knowledgable about their cocktails etc.

Location is good, easy distance from Central Station and Dam Square, and if you like Japanese food, the Kobe restaurant a couple of doors down is a must !

Overall a good hotel, ticked all my boxes and I will be back

Room Tip: May be try one away from the front of the hotel?
