I stayed at the Park Hotel in Amsterdam, and in my opinion it is a very good hotel, and normally I stay in 4* or 5* hotels so I know what standards to expect from a 4* hotel.

To be honest we were put in the Park Hotel by accident because of a booking error but I'm quite glad we did because we had a great time. Amsterdam is a brilliant, quirky, and unique city and Stadthouderskade, where the hotel is located is right near Vondelpark, and also the museum quarter. It's well away from the red light district and is on the nice side of Amsterdam. It's right near one of the canals and you can hop on a canal barge more or less right outside your hotel! The views of the canal are fantastic, but you have to be careful to try and get a canal view because at the back of the hotel all you can see is buildings. Contrary to what was said in another review, the beds aren't any lower than other beds in hotels and the rooms are cosy and attractive and the fact that there are tea and coffee making facilities is absolutely brilliant! The best thing about the hotel is it's breakfasts (there's everything!) and it has a warm and friendly atmosphere. In fact Mrs Warboys off One Foot In The Grave was staying in the hotel at the same time as us (so it can't be bad if somebody off the TV is staying there!) And trust me, it isn't... if you choose to go to Amsterdam, the Dutch people are amazingly friendly and so are the hotel staff! It's the best hotel in a city location that I've stayed in!

My wife and I moved to The Park Hotel Amsterdam after a couple of days in a nearby hotel we could not stand. We found the hotel to be everything we could ask for. The front desk staff and doorman were nice, when we reported a problem with the light in our bathroom a very courteous maintenance man fixed the problem within minutes. Our spacious room faced the canal and Hard Rock Cafe across the street but was quiet nonetheless. We paid 150 Euros (about $180), which included an expansive breakfast buffet of hot and cold foods. We'll definitely stay here the next time we're in Amsterdam, which we hope will be soon. The city and its people are so charming.

I stayed at this hotel back in 2002 for my 2nd visit to Amsterdam. On arrving i was really impressed. The reception was really nice and the staff were really helpful and friendly.

The room was clean and of decent size and in my view good value for money.

However the bath was way too small. If your 6 feet tall forgot it. Also the connecting door to the room next dor was paper thin. You could here the occupents next door talking for god sake. Also didn`t help when they got up to leave at 4am the next day :-(

My last grumble was that housekeeping staff started at 7.30am!!!.

On the whole i would give this hotel 3 out of 5.

A vast improvement on the Hotel Atlanta which i stayed at in 2001 but not as good as the Hotel Amsterdam De Roode Leeuw where i stayed in 2003.

I will be staying at the NH Schiller this May so will write a report to see how they compare.

My family and I booked three seperate rooms in the "new wing". When we arrived, we were told that section was for some reason closed and we were booked into the older section of the hotel. The rooms were extremely small and cramped and the beds very low to the ground and smaller than a normal twin sized bed. The pillows were lumpy and uncomfortable.
On the plus side, the hotel staff were all very, very friendly, the location was excellent and the breakfast buffet outstanding.
