Had a great three-night stay at the Park Hotel in Amsterdam in April 2004 following a few days in London. The hotel is situated right on a canal and next to Vondelpark. At first we were put into the old section of the hotel and the rooms were VERY small, but we requested to be moved and the hotel management then switched us to the new section where the rooms were much larger. They were quite comfortable and had all of the necessities--cable TV, direct-dial phone (so I could hook up my laptop), coffee-maker, nice bathrooms, etc. The food was also good and we usually had room service in the evening rather than going out since we enjoyed the vegetarian pizza and caesar salad! The location was also convenient as it was only a few minutes to the Van Gogh Museum, the Rijksmuseum, Leidesplein Square (very cool restaurants, bars and coffee shops--we enjoyed the Bull Dog Cafe), Vondelpark, and many nice shops.Walking to Dam Square only took about 20 minutes so that was nice also, but when we were lazy, we walked over to Leidesplein and hopped the tram. Be careful of the trams and bikes!Overall, it was a great stay in one of my favorite cities and I'd definitely return to the Park Hotel--to the new section anyway!
