Stayed at the park hotel for four nights. Booked a "run of the house" type of room. The room i stayed in was not the modern lovely looking room featured at the website. My room was rather old and badly needs a revamp. The room definitely does not feel 4stars at all.

Location was not as fanastic as i expected from the other reviews i read before my trip. To get to Leidseplein, its a good 10mins walk. Form Leidseplein if you want to go to the dam, its another 20mins walk. Tram stop (no 1,2,5) also does not stop very near the hotel. The tram stop is about 3blocks away. But if you are intending to buy luxury goods, the hotel is very near to the PC Hooftstraat.

However, i have to compliment the friendly and polite staff who were always ready to help with a smile.

Good location, but the hotel is a bit run down and feels a bit shabby, and the room did not feel particularly clean. We did not think it was good value for money.

The room was a nice size however very "tired". The walls were dirty and had gouges in them. The comforter, drapes and furniture were in need of replacement. The first room we got overlooked the backside of other buildings. We then moved to a room facing the canal which was a nice view. The bathroom was updated, clean and other than the tub that was difficult to get in and out of was fine. The breakfast was an average buffet - not worth the steep price. After one breakfast ,we went to pancake houses for a more reasonable and better breakfast. The bar and lounge had been updated and was very attractive. I was told the rooms were scheduled for renovation in December of 2007 - not a minute too soon. The lobby could use a little work as well. For the price and rating as a 4 star hotel it was definitely lacking. With renovation it may improve because of the location but our stay left something to be desired.

I was staying here on a business trip and booked it based on the website photos, which all show lovely renovated rooms. When I checked in I was given probably the one of the worst rooms in the hotel. A single bedded room in the un renovated part of the hotel. The bed was sagging in the middle and my bed cover had a cigarette burn. I could not change the rooms and was told I could not cancel them either. I eventually ...after lots of discussions.....got moved to the renovated part of the hotel but on a smoking floor so had to keep the window open to eliminate the smell and it was cold outside!
Also the restaraunt is dark and dingy and the breakfast cost a whopping 22 euros each. The head waiter scolded one of the waitresses in full view of the customers.
The staff on reception were not helpful and did not seem to realise the customer came first.
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone

The good points of this hotel are the staff (particularly Dennis and Kris in the bar) and the location. The bad points are the badly designed, newly renovated rooms which look great but are not useable or practical. The shower has a huge head, but floods the entire tiled area of the room (there is no bathroom) after 2 mins. The air conditioning didn't work making it cold all the time. The bed is like sleeping on a marshmallow and the duvet is too hot. All the lighting is downward and not powerful so you can't put your make up on properly. You need to ask for a hairdryer, but when you get one, there are no power sockets anywhere near a mirror. You can't switch the lights off from the bed, you need to get out again. It is noisy as the traffic is right outside the window. There is no plug in the basin to keep water in. There is only 1 bedside table, no clock visible during the night and no soap dish. These last 3 things may sound trivial but they caused damage to my new Cartier watch which I am very annoyed about and just emphasises why attention to detail is very important.
