“Great hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2013

This is a wonderful place to stay. The rooms are beautiful and large with very comfortable beds. The hotel staff is very helpful and accommodations were enjoyable. A little further out from the city but easy to get about and gives you more of a flavor how the people live.

The Okura was absolutely amazing! My husband and I shared the basic room, which was pretty large, had a great view of the canal, and a really comfy bed. The hotel designers had thought of everything, from mood lighting based on the time of day, to a bathroom mirror that can't fog, and even a light switch by the headboard that turns on a nightlight in the bathroom. Prior to our trip, we had read reviews that the staff at the hotel were known for being impersonal; however, we found the exact opposite. The doorman smiled and asked my husband how his morning run was, and a member of the front desk went out of his way to make sure my husband got a piece of cake on his birthday. We also loved the champagne bar on the top floor, great views and delicious drinks.

Room Tip: Can't go wrong with any room in this hotel.

Absolutely amazing hotel. the hotel found out it was our 10th anniversary and when we got to the room the staff had left us a card , strawberries and a little bottle is Sake. The staff were amazing the room with a fab view was beautiful. It is a bit further out but this is actually nice being away from the mania of the main town. You can get a tram ,number 25 to central Amsterdam ,we hired bikes from the hotel an this is the best way to get around. There are some lovely bars and restaurants in the area around the hotel so really no need to venture further if you don't want to. Definitely deserving of 5stars. Make sure to visit Bar23 for at least 1 cocktail, about Euro 15 but worth splashing out for for the view.
.

Room Tip: Ask for a high room.

Gorgeous hotel with amazing staff and rooms. Surprisingly very affordable for being in the city. Great food options in and around the hotel. Located right on a canal which was nice for people watching!

Just returned from long weekend with 5 friends to this fantastic hotel. From the moment we arrived nothing was to much trouble and staff very friendly. Hotel is in quieter part of city but you can easily walk into the main attractions along the lovely canals. The rooms are fantastic , very big with luxurious bathroom and great views we had corner rooms with double aspect . Breakfast was lovely with lots of unusual foods to try as well as usual breakfast items.
Congratulations to the hotel staff for making it a special weekend.

Yes it's a little out of town but the trams get you into the centre very quickly and are easy to use, the hotel is fantastic, we had a room on the 21st floor and the view was amazing, from check in to check out we had everything we needed, ok it was really busy for breakfast on the Sunday and the staff look overworked and they weren't very polite but I sort of felt a little sorry for them! The executive lounge was perfect to chill in before going out for a walk or before dinner, the drinks and snacks were a perfect touch! We didn't have time to use the spa or gym even though this was including so we can't comment but I wouldnt hesitate to come back again or recommend this hotel to others, simply stunning with lovely little gadgets!!! Please please please update your WIFI

This is the best hotel I have stayed in so far. It has fantastic views (we were given a room on 10th floor) the rooms are big and has everything you could ask for including an espresso machine. The hotel is only 10min away from the centre, tram number 12 and 25 departs from right across the main road. If you are out and going to get back to the hotel late, night bus number is 354. Breakfast has good choices it worth paying extra if you are considering booking room only. Bar Twenty Three is set on the top floor and has amazing views of the city, you must have a drink there. The only downside for me was that the Pool and Spa use is extra €15 it must be free to the hotel guests it's a shame you have to pay for it.

Room Tip: ask for a room on the highest floor possible
