“Clean and great!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2011

It's an expensive hotel but rooms are spacious and clean. Disliked the fact that you have to pay to use the gym and swiming pool. Had lunch in one of the restaurants and food was good. Had dinner at the sushi restaurant and we were amazed with the friendly service (not common in NL) and food is authentic and delicious. Decoration is lovely. Could notice that the customers (mainly locals) were too busy with other customers/tables (difficult to ignore). Still the place is worth the visit and reservation is highly recommended.

The hotel is beautifully decorated, with spacy rooms. The staff was very helpfull and always with a smile. Nice breakfast. The only downfall was the relatively high cost and the distance from the city center.

This hotel is conveniently located near the centre of Amsterdam. Clean and stylish, is a good accommodation for both business and leisure travel.

Our room was generously sized with a great view, with both cable and wireless internet available (at a charge), and a great bathroom with quality toiletry products.

The breakfast choice isn't large but all the foods served are very fresh and high quality. This is a hotel that I would recommend.

Stayed here on business and must say that apart from it being very expensive - 550 EUR per night in a suite may be a little bit too expensive.
However, the accommodation is worth every cent, with remote controls of the curtains and lights, and the marvelous bathroom.
The view from the upper floors is marvelous, overview of the channels, and the Amsterdam itself is also worth that money!
The room service and the cleaning staff and the whole staff were excellent, kind and polite!
Definitely a good stay which will be remembered gladly!

An amazing hotel.

The best service I have ever received in a business hotel. Special thanks to Maki at the front desk and Philip van Maaren. Rooms are beautiful and well appointed, TV services and in-room movies are the latest and with plenty of choices. Food outstanding - not just in the famed Japanese restaurant - but room service quality and service is very good.

Drawbacks - they need more Japanese food in the room service menu rather than Japanese curry.

Also internet should be free.

We stayed in the Okura for 1 night last weekend with 2 couples in a luxury room. I was the first who arrived and I told the reception that my husband and the other couple were about to arrive. I checked in and everything went fine. My husband arrived a bit later and we had a very nice dinner in the Serre restaurant, although the atmosphere was very ( too) noisy.
When we returned to our room it was only prepared for the night for one person ( detail, but I told the reception-desk before that my husband would arrive a bit later...to be honest he did'nt tell the reception that he arrived, but after all I made the reservation for two ;))
The room was perfectly clean, very well kept and nice and tastefull decorated. We went upstairs for champagne n the bar with the other couple that just arrived and we had a wonderful end of the evening together with beautiful views of Amsterdam. The staff was very friendly too.
Breakfast was nice, rather expensive, buth nothing special or it must have been the mushroom Japanese soup ( we didn't taste the soup).
The other couple told us the other morning that they had some problem with the absence of a hairdryer ( there was no hair dryer in their room ( 1407 ). In my opinion very weird for a 5 star hotel or am I wrong? On the other hand: we had the room next to them and we had no problems. Our friends also asked the frontdesk for something to upload their I-phone but there was nothing available at that moment. Then they had to go to minus 1 level to recharge their phones but that turned out to be no solution.
We had lunch at Yamazato, wonderful experience and compliments for the whole staff!
After all a stay in luxury and style and our compliments for the nice Christmas 2011 decoration.

stayed for 2 nights recently, room excellent however far too many rules for me
not allowed a burger in the bar. you have to order it through room service and eat it in your room, not allowed to take it from your room to the bar, stupid really stupid rule.
The Toilet, its worth booking just to see the toilet (it has electronic controls, god knows what they do????) left the toilet confused, left the hotel confused, as to all the rules, not for me never again, nice clean room (probably cleaner than an NHS Hospital) would I go back!!
