“Nice but expensive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2014

Rooms are not cheap, but they are clean, practical and well equipped. Bathroom has a spacious shower. Then there is the breakfast... 22,5 euros is a bit... steep... OK, I don't think I have seen a buffet with a wider choice. But hey, there is only so much one can eat in the morning, right? If breakfast is more expensive than most main dishes in the hotel restaurant, something is not right.

The biggest ripoff is the hotel parking. I would expect it to be complementary for hotel guests. Or even a small additional fee. But 24 euros per day? Or not even per day, from the moment you are parked for seven hours of more, you pay 24 euros for that day...

What made me give 4 stars then? The quality of the breakfast and the very friendly staff.

Hotel located outside the city. Quiet but fare away from city. Not so helpful staff. Ok price for a room but they take a dep. Charge of 50 euro - no info about it. The cleaning was good but there was no ramp for handicaped people..

Good hotel located in a very convenient area. Easy parking. Breakfast expensive but good and plentiful. Honestly a good hotel that I would recommend to those who come to Amsterdam for business and with the car. The rooms are spacious and clean. Very quite sleaping and beautiful panorama from the top. In the globa sure postive.

The hotel is fine, The rooms needs a little renovation, carpets were old, bed not very comfortable, clean room, Brekfast was nice. my biggest problem was that the location was really really bad. took 30 min to get to the city center. the walk to train or tram was on a dangerous highway. The hotel name is confusing - Amsterdam city, its not in the city at all.
next time i will pay a few more $$$ to be in the center.

I´ve just stayed the weekend at Mercure Hotel Amsterdam City and it really was very great !!
We had a lovely and calm room, the breakfast was very good and the hotel stuff was incredibly kind and helpful =)
The hotel was renovated in January and everything was very new and extremely stylish =)
I can just recommend this hotel. It takes like 10 minutes to go to the city center ! It´s great so stop complaining ! ;)

Booked the hotel for business since close to the office. Very friendly and helpful staff, rooms were nice with modern design. Hotel has bikes for rent which makes it easier to get around in Amsterdam. All in all good experience and would recommend hotel.

Small amount of refurbishment going on but these things caused little if no disruption to clientele.
This hotel was booked for business and attendance at the Conference Centre. This is easily reached by train ride all of five minutes or a twenty minute walk. I used train to go into city centre which again was an easy ride of about 10-15 minutes, and made extremely easy by the help of the reception staff and the purchase of train ticket there too.
The hotel is modern, the rooms I think I can say the quietest I have stayed in for a long time, a little tight for space.
Good nights sleep. Bed firm, but on request an extra quilt was put on bed under sheet to give the feeling of a mattress topper which was great.
Small pod coffee maker in room and kettle which was great as more hotels seem to have removed these. Ironing board on request.
All in all I would happily recommend this Mercure Hotel and would return.

Room Tip: Room facing canal/river as opposite side faces road.
