We stayed at the hotel Feb 10-13 and found it to be very satisfactory. It was 5 mins from train station, however get directions beforehand as Amsterdam is a maze! Its beside a tram stop (use the 1,2,5 for Leidesplein), and the Canal Boats are between it and the train station. It's also beside Dam Square and the shoppping areas. I booked a 'Deluxe Room' for €450, 3 nights, and on arrival was told we had been upgraded to an Executive. But don't be fooled, the room was still quite small. In addition, although we got a 'special offer' discount for breakfast, this was 12.50 per person extra, which we normally ensure is included in hotel prices. Lobby bar was nice, quiet and cosy, and the breakfast buffet was hot, varied and tasty.
I'd stay there again, but wont be fooled by the descriptions of the rooms.

I have just got back from a 3 night stay at this hotel. It was lovely. It is a 5 minute walk from the train station. The hotel lobby and lounge area was very nice and cosy and they have an open fire which is great at this time of the year!
Our room was spotlessly clean and modern. The bed was at least a king size and very comfy.
The only negative thing was the breakfast. Although they had a wide selection of cereals, toast, coissants etc. the buffet cooked breakfast of scrambled egg, baked beans, sausage, bacon etc. was cold every morning even though we went at various times. I wouldn't pay extra for breakfast if it was optional but as it was included in the price we ate it.
Overall we enjoyed our stay and would go again next time!

We recently stayed at the Golden Tulip Hotel Inntel Amsterdam Centre for 3 nights. Got an excellent deal for hotel only with Thomson Citybreaks, paid £208 for the 3 nights which included breakfast and taxes (it was on a 3 nights for the price of 2 offer for the dates we chose). We cannot fault this hotel. When we arrived we were asked if we wanted twin beds or a double and a smoking or non smoking room. We chose double non smoking and when we were given our room number we were told we had been given an upgrade, free of charge. The room was lovely. It was modern, nicely furnished and spotlessly clean and the bed was at least king size, if not superking and really comfortable. In fact I think it's the most comfortable hotel bed we have ever slept in. The bathroom was equally impressive with nice toiletries! Also there is a safe in the wardrobe which is free of charge so you don't have to carry all your valuables with you while you're sightseeing. The breakfast is good with all the usual continental choices plus eggs bacon sausages etc.Lovely coffee! As for the staff, they were all friendly and helpful without exception. (In fact everywhere we went we found the people to be really nice.) The location is good too.
Would we stay there again? Definitely! and we would recommend it to friends without hesitation.

I stayed here just after Christmas for a few nights, last year (2004), and enjoyed the stay. Clean, large rooms with all mod cons, roomy bathroom, everything you need. BBC1&2 from memory as well. Staff were friendly, the only complaint I had was the cost of the breakfast was insane - something like EUR12-14 for what was essentially toast & scrambled eggs or cereal. Great location, only a short walk from the station, and on a quiet side street just off the main road with trams to the places towards the south of the city (museums etc.). I would recommend this hotel readily.
