“Nice hotel - recommended”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

I stayed 5 nights in the hotel during Amsterdam Marathon. The staff was very friendly, room and bathroom were clean. The hotel is well lovated, few minutes walking off of Centraal Station and also very close to Dam, Red Light District, shopping area, etc. Recommended.

Our flight landed in Amsterdam early in the morning. We took the train from the airport to Centraal Station and took a nice leisurely 10 min walk to the hotel. The streets were still quiet and empty on that Saturday morning of August.

When we arrived the hotel at 8am, our room was ready for to be occupied. The hotel looked small at the lobby but as we took the elevator (that was secured by room key) to our room, we realized that the hotel consisted of 2 buildings.

The room was quite small for 3. We requested for an extra bed, but there wasnt enough space to walk around with it around. Despite that the room was clean & comfortable. The bed was nice and comfy. The floor was carpeted. There was a big window for the room. We were rarely home but at night we noticed that the room wasn't well lit. That didnt bother us though as we didnt really need the light. The bathroom was quite small as well but still have a bathtub.

The location of the hotel is central. The tram stop is across the hotel which is very convenient if you want to go to musuems, Vondelpark, etc. There is a small square right outside the hotel where you'll find just a few cafes, restaurants that serves food, drinks and treats. Perfect after a long day around the city. If you walk a little, you will also find a street full of stores like H&M, Zara, Mango.

If you are looking for a nice hotel thats centraal but not too near the noisy bars in the red light, this would be perfect.

We booked via booking.com and there didnt seem to be problem, just that they charged us ahead even if it said that there was no need to pay before getting there.

The room was great, the bed, the safe - everything !
The only 2 problems we had was that the shower flow with a bit slow, and that breakfast if verrrryyyy expensive (15 EUR a person is expense even for Paris).

But besides that the hotel is real fun, with great staff and great location - just near Amsterdam shopping, dinning and smoking area :)

We visited Amsterdam for 3 days over our 5th wedding anniversary and upon check-in our bed was decorated with flower petals in the shape of a heart, bride and groom rubber duckies and a very special handwritten note of congratulations.
As we were sharing our surprise and giggles over the bed decorations, there was a knock at the door. Room service was delivering a complimentary bottle of Champagne and two glasses.
The room was great and decor was fabulous!
The location was superb!

Solid hotel 5-7 mins' walk from Centraal Station in a lively area. The hotel itself is just off the main road, so reasonably quiet, though soundproofing could be better. Just off the Nieuwendijk shopping street and a short walk to Dam Square or most other attractions in the city. Rooms and bathrooms are small but not tiny, acceptable for a hotel in this location. Wifi is free, all the staff I met were friendly and helpful. Not the most luxurious place, but nothing to complain about and a great choice if you get a decent price.

Just getting round to reviewing this hotel as we stayed there for a long weekend in August. We chose to stay at the hotel because of the reviews and were let down. We booked a twin room for ourselves and another for our friend this was all that was available. For some reason he managed to get a double bed when there were 2 of us as a couple in 2 single beds. We found this odd so asked reception why put 1 person in a double and 2 in the single beds, the receptionist shrugged and said the hotel was full and could do nothing about it. We booked the deluxe room, there was nothing deluxe about it, which turned out to be a standard room with poor shower, threadbare towels and industrial grade toilet paper. Not the quality we have come to expect of 4* hotels.

Thankfully the next morning the manager offered us a bigger room, possibly the superior which was much more comfortable and over all much more pleasant. Staff came in to make up and clean the room, however it was never really cleaned properly and the bedding looked as though it was not changed in 4 nights. Now, if this was their effort to help the environment I understand, but why did the cleaner turn the air conditioning up full everyday. Cups were also not being removed and hairs that did not belong to us gathered in the bathroom. The staff were never overly helpful but usually friendly. We didn't have breakfast included, but were informed that it was nothing special and not worth the money.

The saving grace for this hotel is the location; it's perfect for almost everything. We walked everywhere from here, there are plenty of places to have breakfast, lunch and dinner and loads of places to go for a drink. If you have a smart phone download the Tripadvisor app to the city, it's really handy.

Stayed on Wednesday & Thursday nights on business booked by company. Check in was OK but could have been better at least they had some inter company info from our stay in the same chain/group in Zaandam on Monday. Some of the hotel is across the lane so you have to take one lift and then cross to the other side and take another. I was on the 5th floor and had a direct lift. Rooms were smaller than the Zaandam hotel. Bathroom much smaller too.
There was not much noise from other rooms so I guess I was lucky and had 2 good night's sleep.
TV was OK but some channels had no sound. WC cistern was stuck but easy to fix manually. I would imagine noise from the lane outside could be a problem in mid summer if the window was open. Lack of power sockets was a problem.Other than that it was cosy, and very central for all the local attractions.
